tantek you put the URLs you want to look at into a text box

tantek it's looking at all the URLs, retrieving each one, parsing it for mf2, and then sending all the cities to Google's geocoding API, then plotting them all

tantek it's a node application, server running behind the scenes

tantek wanted to do it all clients side, but CORS prevents you from grabbing the contents of any arbitrary website

tantek another reason is that needed some kind of API to do this geocoding, with an API key

tantek and if he was hosting it on his site and doing it clientside, there was no way of getting around having to share the API key with everyone

tantek having it in the context of a server means he can do it with his API key

tantek also means if someone wants to try it out, they have to register their own API key

tantek it's specified as an environment variable

tantek as you get this running as a node server on your machine, you would just put in your API key

tantek hoping to file off some of the rough edges soon and put it on github soon.
