snarfed btw, i have to admit, i'm a bit skeptical of our habit of obsessively documenting silo downtimes. they have bugs and outages sometimes, yes. indieweb sites do too.

snarfed we don't really pitch people on indieweb expecting that they'll have *less* downtime than a silo. (and if we do, that's probably not generally true, so we should reconsider.)

snarfed if we're capturing instances of error page design or behavior, ok. otherwise, i'm not sure it adds much value.

gRegorLove I think I agree too. It can be useful to point out times when services that have the only copy are not available, though. Encourage people to have their own copies, online or off.

snarfed yup! ideally that's implied, but we can emphasize a blanket reminder. nothing has 100% uptime. do backups, LOCKSS etc.

aaronpk I mostly agree, but I also think it's important to reinforce that even major services like Google have downtime and that you shouldn't expect that "the cloud" is flawless
