That didn't really explain what they do when you mix languages. If Japanese is dense, does a shruggie trigger the shorter length?
#
[kevinmarks]
And emoji are pretty dense

Clarifying Facebook's revenge porn pilot after speaking to them: - A Facebook worker will see the full, uncensored nude images - Images stored for a period - But how else could you do it; it's about risk https://www.thedailybeast.com/facebook-workers-not-an-algorithm-will-look-at-volunteered-nude-photos-first-to-stop-revenge-porn

They don't do anything special to handle CJK characters, they just count them as two. I think they're basically counting based on UTF-8 encoding length instead of actual graphemes?
elie and adactio joined the channel
#
Zegnat
I though Facebook promised only storing numerical data points for keeping track of the images. That clarification goes pretty far from the original reporting :o
#
petermolnar
re fb vs revenge porn: first of all, avoid recording these, after that, if you believe fb won't store them forever or later on use them for other ideas, you still don't understand what fb is
#
Zegnat
Then again. You could enable secure chat in Messenger, which is end-to-end encrypted (with Signal protocol, I believe) and then you will probably be able to still send “blocked” nudes as Facebook loses access to the message
#
[kevinmarks]
What's the betting that if someone uploads your nudes, Facebook suggests them as a friend?
#
petermolnar
I only bet in chocolate or beer
#
petermolnar
I know my opinion is not a popular one, but how about besides ideas like that in fb they also start educating people not to send nudes?
#
petermolnar
eg. when someone uploads a nude in a message, fb already has the capacity to detect it and could ask for double verification if you really want to send this, or letting people know that whoever is receiving this can save the image, etc.

I am guessing it is getting done this way because it isn’t actually an idea by Facebook people, but by the Australian e-Safety Commission

wonders why there aren't any IndieWeb examples on /h-card? Perhaps it was an early page and thought too basic by devs?
#
[chrisaldrich]
perhaps Zegnat and gRegorLove could add links to their h-card examples? Anyone else with extensive ones?
#
Zegnat
What is h-card?
#
Loqi
h-card is the microformats2 vocabulary for marking up people, organizations, and venues on web sites https://indieweb.org/h-card
#
[chrisaldrich]
It looks like the /rel-me page could/should have examples too?

I think because the examples were being tracked on the equivalent microformats wiki page

#
Zegnat
Yeah, but I can totally see the use case for having at least a handful of examples from the indieweb community on indieweb.org too
#
tantek
yup - not opposed to it, just answer your question about where are they

#
Zegnat
Added a link to the mf wiki now, good catch there tantek :)
#
[chrisaldrich]
Having them on the microformats pages is useful, but those coming into the IndieWeb (esp. Gen2+ won't necessarily know to look there for simple examples...)
#
[chrisaldrich]
having a few in the IW wiki can be useful with links to others on the microformats wiki seems like a useful thing...

#
tantek
will Gen2+ be looking for code examples at all?
#
[chrisaldrich]
As I'm writing and thinking about the ways one can do it on WordPress, I think that it would be useful. It's also a simple way for people to have more control over their site and display of content via html and markup.
#
[chrisaldrich]
Thus it becomes a gentle introduction to a level of coding that could be a gateway to wanting to learn more.
#
[chrisaldrich]
Gen 4 may not be influenced as much as Gen2 would certainly.

[chrisaldrich], your november writing challenge came up in a conversation at iwc berlin. your msg above reminded me that I wanted to check in with you whether you are aware of the personas that were developed over several iwc's in germany?
#
sgreger
https://indieweb.org/2017/Nuremberg/onboarding is probably the documentation of the most recent stage of that work
#
sgreger
(linked to earlier iwc sessions working on developing them)
#
Zegnat
sgreger did anyone do any more work on that on Sunday? I don’t remember anyone demoing any new work
#
sgreger
zegnat: i don't think so. and i just noticed, the photo from the saturday "onboarding/personas" session did not make it to the etherpad, apparently
#
sgreger
there were 2-3 ppl intererested in continuing the work on sunday, but got probably carried away by other tasks

Anyone else that has thoughts on onboarding for Gen2+ are certainly more than welcome to chime in as well.

#

It looks like we don't have a page for "personas" yet. Would you like to create it?
