hello thar! i am having trouble implementing adactio's minimal micropub endpoint, i keep getting "missing post value in scope"
#
krup
anyone have any insights?
#
krup
or could explain in plain language what that actually means
#
GWG
The value 'post' needs to be in scope.
#
GWG
Literally
#
aaronpk
krup: apps have been switching to "create" instead of "post" which is probably the problem
#
krup
hmm that is what it is set to currently
#
aaronpk
it's already "create"?
#
krup
yes
#
aaronpk
which app are you logging in to? it's possible the app is not requesting the "create" scope then
#
krup
micropublish
#
krup
ill try quill
#
aaronpk
in the sign-in prompt in Micropublish try choosing the second radio button that has "create" in it
wolftune joined the channel
#
krup
hmm, i am recieving a blank error, but in quill i get an error saying that the endpoint didn't return a location header
#
aaronpk
well that's progress. sounds like the code isn't getting all the way to https://gist.github.com/adactio/8168e6b78da7b16a4644#file-micropub-php-L82
#
aaronpk
invites krup to #indieweb-dev for more micropub debugging. we try to keep code discussion out of this channel
#
krup
i see

Strava released their global heatmap. 13 trillion GPS points from their users (turning off data sharing is an option). https://medium.com/strava-engineering/the-global-heatmap-now-6x-hotter-23fc01d301de … It looks very pretty, but not amazing for Op-Sec. Had to take a break from that though, as I got stuck in a “how would I have built this” though experiment instead of concrete seeing how we could fix it, haha

I just realised that going to a friend’s Facebook profile starts the page with a section titled “Posts you haven’t seen”. So, Facebook, if you know I haven’t seen them, why not put them in my newsfeed?

Hmm, what is the difference between /data-portability and /export ? Seem to collect the same information about exporting from silos.

Experimentation continues with IndieWeb projects – over to Webmentions. It is a really wonderful concept which enables responses to a post to be written on one’s own website. As Jeremy Keith wrote in one of his posts: Basically, it’s an equivalent to pingback. Let’s say I w…

Zegnat: I’d say that for data to be portable it has to be in a format that can be readily used elsewhere, whereas an export just means you’ve got it. Data-portability is a subset of export.

@SamMFinnigan Do indieweb stuff? Build software that lets you communicate with the platform on your terms? It's what I do w/ Brimstone. e.g. I pull in no more than 20 tweets at a time.

#
@SamMFinnigan
@mrshll1001 Mm. I know it works for you. Indieweb kinda starts with the privilege in being able to code and having the time to work on it though. It's not accessible.

@SamMFinnigan That's my problem w/ Indieweb tbh and why we should just go fully decentralised and sack off the web entirely as a broken model.
