#[shurcool]I've been working on something lately. it's far from finished, but it has reached a point where I can use use it myself more often than not and avoid having to view it upstream on the silo
#[shurcool](just as heads up, only I can see them, because it's tied to my github account, so if I make any posts, it'd show up as me on github.com. if you visit that url, it'll just redirect you to github)
#Loqi[shurcooL] #16 Add change tracking service and changes app.
#[shurcool]I plan to keep working on it, making it more feature complete and pleasant over time. but it feels pretty cool to be able to view PRs without leaving my personal site 😄
#[shurcool]I'm not finding a wiki page about code review tools... I'll have to make it sometime (i.e., analogous to https://indieweb.org/issue_tracker)
#[shurcool]i've switched to it and generally enjoying it. but it's probably mostly because I'm a minimalist and Go fanboy, and it has a very liberal license...
#[shurcool]so just using the font everywhere means I rely/depend on fewer proprietary things, etc
#sl007Saw https://bornhack.dk/bornhack-2018/ in the wiki. Will go there with a van from NL border via Dortmund/404/Hannover and Sassnitz - and then the ferry is just 30€.
#Loqi[Aaron Parecki] Great followup post!

#schmartyso i used glitch to write and deploy a (bad) port of selfauth along with a micropub endpoint that writes new posts directly into our index.html and uploads it to neocities via their API
#Loqi[Marty McGuire] I'm going!

#LoqiFacebook Master Algorithm is the name given to Facebook's algorithm for determining what content to show in Facebook's reader (AKA News Feed shown on their logged-in homepage), also adopted and tweaked by Instagram for their reader (app home screen) https://indieweb.org/Master_Algorithm

#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "finsta" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "finsta is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#tantekrinsta is a portmanteau for real [[Instagram]], a typically public account that conforms to typical Instagram posting expectations, like being highly curated; since most IndieWeb sites are mostly public, the behavior may be similar. Contrast with [[finsta]].
#LoqiJust generated this week's newsletter! You still have a few minutes to make changes, and I'll re-generate it 10 minutes before it gets sent out at 3pm Pacific time. https://indieweb.org/this-week/2018-02-16.html
#ZegnatLooks like we made the photo work for the news letter, tantek!
#ZegnatIs there a way to add photo credits there? This wasn't uploaded to the wiki or published to the public domain.
#tantekfinsta is a portmanteau of fake and [[Instagram]], a typically private pseudonym account that only a few close friends follow, and used to post more informally and frequently, without any of the typical Instagram posting conventions; as few IndieWeb are private, this may be worth exploring. Contrast with [[rinsta]].

#[mifga]Say, i am looking to pick a tool or framework or markdown style solution that will allow me to write content separate from formatting that i can easily convert into a fairly vanilla pdf or slideshow formats. I am writing a bunch of 3D printing how-tos and thinking to make it easy to redeploy them to simple static generated html, slides, and downloadable pdfs, etc. I was thinking of messing with asciidoctor formatting (plus pandoc when needed), and
#[mifga]tools to get it out to either reveal.js style slides or something google slides or powerpoint can bring in — when i realized that needing powerpoint or google docs is pretty silly for so slight a thing, i’ll bet the indieweb community have non-application drive solutions!
#[mifga]Maybe folks here might have played with this kinda stuff 3-5 years ago with various plaintext to sites, pdfs, slides, ebooks, etc. I could use advice for directions to explore, from evolved site generators to microformat to git-to-documents solutions. Probably not just writing pure LaTeX though, for editing and collaborator’s sake!!

#[kevinmarks]Reveal is pretty good and does have a pdf friendly print template
#[kevinmarks]Hugo is a solid markdown+metadata to html generator, with very flexible templates
#[mifga]thanks, [kevinmarks] - I’l take a look at both. I actually didn’t realized that reveal generates decent pdfs,
#grantcodesmifga: I have a directory on my site where I upload presentations, I use reveal with a custom style generated from my site theme, that way when I update my site style the presentations are updated too.
#grantcodesAnd for reveal I think you actually just print and save to pdf, but it definitely does pdf somehow
