Zegnat I can‘t answer for WP themes of course. But themes are important when you want your website to be parsable. If you don’t want your posts to be (easily) machine parsable, you can use whatever theme you want. Doesn’t impede sending webmentions either, but makes a difference how the receiving end can handle the webmention.
