aaronpkI can't remember the exact state of things in browser extensions right now, but the other trick there is the site the extension is on might then have access to be able to trigger the comment form itself, making it so you could post on my site if I visit yours, which is obvs bad. conversely, some sites essentially block extensions via the new security policies.
brandonkalaaronpk, for number 1 (leaks) the extension would only leak whether or not the user has such an extension (e.g. data-indieuser="true") rather than the HTML replacement approach of webactions. The design issue wouldn't be an issue as the form would match the site.
[tantek]sure, you said "internet is doing a pretty good job of it" [collecting facebook criticism] - and no it is not. we have the most comprehensive collection on the internet, order of magnitude more than Wikipedia's collection.
[Rose]I wonder if there's any way we can easily support alt-text on images? Instagram just added that as a feature and it's something I'd like to have.
[manton][Rose] We are about to ship a new version of the Micro.blog app for iOS that sends an "mp-photo-alt" parameter along with images to a Micropub endpoint, with a UI to add a text description to photos. Hopefully will be approved by Apple and out on Monday. The wiki has a summary of where this came from: https://indieweb.org/Micropub-brainstorming#Alternative_text_for_photos_in_form-encoded
LoqiThe IndieWeb Challenge is to collectively ship something IndieWeb-related (preferably benefiting the community, folks in addition to yourself) every day of December! https://indieweb.org/IndieWeb_Challenge
kisik21sknebel: the challenge is collective, that means that we only need to fill all the days, not for everyone to ship something like #100daysofindieweb?
[tantek]For stuff for your own site/software, we have the IndieWeb Commitments - add yours to the list there and see if you can get it done / deployed / usable by yourself by Jan 1!
Loqi2019-01-01-commitments are implementation and launch commitments publicly made by the IndieWeb community to ship on their personal sites by 2019-01-01 00:00 local time https://indieweb.org/indieweb_commitments
