#[tantek]!tell metbril any particular reason you're deleting all these redirects? (assuming you're Robertvanbregt.nl) You're likely mistakenly deleting some. We have many redirects because someone linked to something somewhere (a post, a tweet etc.) that had a slight typo etc. so the redirects repair those links. Can you join the indieweb-meta channel to chat more?
#[smerrill]thanks for all the work you’ve all done on indieweb stuff. Thanks especially to Aaron for Monocle and Aperture and Quill. They have been great additions to my workflow!

#[eddie]I'm beginning with experimenting with a Windows Metro UI style homepage using CSS Grid, it's pretty rough so far: https://eddiehinkle.com/new-home The idea is like Metro UI be able to emphasize certain tiles to be bigger and such (either based on manual selection or based on a threshold of responses)
#[jgmac1106]It was impossible to even try to find where to begin with regex and Apache servers, thank you.
#[jgmac1106][relapse] like the Gurp card generator @zegnat and I been thinking a ton about turn by turn RPG from our own Domains

#[relapse]Thank you. That turn-by-turn sounds fun. What thoughts so far?
#[relapse]Hmmm, now I’m thinking on how to turn h-cards into collectable trading cards...
#[relapse]I love regex. Always happy to talk/ help with that
#[relapse].htaccess files are tricky. I found the main docs tricky, generally ended up kitbashing various google search responses for a day or so until i figured it out

#[tantek]agreed [relapse] - web searching for apache docs is quite frustrating (nevermind the cryptic, I have to read what where in how many disconnected parts? style of the main docs)
#jgmac1106All I was looking for was a cheat sheet of $ means X and . means X…took forever just to learn the term regex…hard to believe my use case wasn’t a common one
#[tantek][jgmac1106] literally a post that is like "state the problem you need to solve (migrated CMSs, keeping archive.originaldomain around, want to serve old links from it). summarize the solution (use Apache Rewrite rules to add a 404 handler to do it automatically!), show the block of code you added to your .htaccess file, lastly, optional, explain (in terms *you* think you understand) what each line does, or if you don't know, say that! (that's ok too
#LoqiA regular expression is a sequence of characters used to match, extract, and/or replace patterns in text https://indieweb.org/regex
#KartikPrabhu[relapse]: feel free to add to wiki page ^
#[tantek]is trying to help / encourage [jgmac1106] by writing an outline :D
#[tantek][jgmac1106] also it's just good pedagogy 😄 asking a learner to write a brief report about how they went about solving a (new to them) problem, using (new to them) techniques will drastically help reinforce the learning 🙂
#jgmac1106gotta play some games with the kids but I will write up the post
#jgmac1106…hee hee exactly why I keep the reflection in my webmention badge workflow
#[tantek]waits for [jgmac1106] to correct his use of "pedagogy"
#jgmac1106i am a fan of the way you teach, no correction needed
#[tantek]I myself am trying to learn from your educator perspective and experience and adopt helpful language accordingly. 🙂
