[tantek] snarfed, I just rediscovered my past analysis of different possibilities of tag-reply and reply-to in the same post. Only one of those was "multi-interaction" as has been rejected in 832 as you noted. The other (which I think makes more sense) was to only use the reply-to as *fallback* by consuming code that didn't recognize the tag-of markup.
