aaronpkAperture also has "api keys" that you can use to push messages into channels. That's actually how my site is set up, where my site can push notifications into aperture that way.
[frank]That's great Rose! I also figured out how microblog comments get back to my blog. So now I have Aaron replying through microblog on my site on an Instagram photo. What walled gardens?
LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "everyone up to today" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "everyone up to today is ____", a sentence describing the term)
[manton]I don't often see WordPress listed on the "wrong side", so I wanted to understand his point, but some ideas are difficult to get across clearly in tweet form.
[schmarty]i don't think it's quite the same but it sounds inline with a complaint i've heard from GWG and others that WordPress is moving further from "blogging" with each release in favor of trying to be a more generic CMS, maybe a flashier one.
[jgmac1106]But the turn away from blogging to images...a bit biased in perspective but maybe that is where humanity is heading. Words only dominant last 2-3 hundred years
sknebelsince you run your own reader (right?), you could probably relatively easily make a locally running "proxy" - a php file that just your reader can access and that just fetches the feed and returns it?
[manton]Speaking of Micro.blog and the IndieWeb... I launched a feature today to make it easier to follow blogs on Micro.blog even if the author has not registered on Micro.blog. Basically turns Micro.blog into a more general-purpose feed reader, with some limitations. https://www.manton.org/2019/05/16/following-other-blogs.html
[manton][frank] I've noticed a couple times it doesn't find the RSS feed too. If you have an example site, let me know and I'll take a closer look so I can improve the auto-detection.
[manton]Looks like that redirects to HTTPS and then redirects to www... Micro.blog doesn't follow more than a couple redirects, so I wonder if it's giving up too early. I'll take a closer look.
[manton]It's getting there! I plan to add search/follow to Micro.blog's Microsub implementation, but I wasn't sure if that was supported everywhere. Looks like it's in Together but not Monocle, right?
[cleverdevil]Very cool. For externally hosted users, I wonder if it might be good for you to allow people to just “claim” their domain on the platform, and have that end up being their username.
[manton]Absolutely. I think if your Micro.blog account has already verified that domain name (with a rel link) then it should automatically merge them, sort of. But it doesn't do that yet.
