# [cleverdevil] Looks great [grantcodes]!
# [cleverdevil] FYI, though, it now no longer allows me to “add to home screen” as a PWA on iOS.
# [cleverdevil] When I add, I do get the new fancy logo, but the launched PWA just shows a blank white screen.
# [grantcodes] Yes I've seen that a couple of times too, but thought it was probably just cache related. I was able to add it to my home screen in android. But I probably deleted a setting I shouldn't have

# [grantcodes] Hmm why would you want it separated from your website cweiske?
# [grantcodes] I'm guessing mainly for a different front end / interface
KartikPrabhu joined the channel
# [grantcodes] I would take a different approach. Still save them to your website, that way there is no change in your bookmarking flow and all tools will work
# [grantcodes] But then hide them on your main website. And have your bookmark site somehow read from your main site

# petermolnar I learnt a lot on how to do certain photography techniques from seeing information on aperture, speed, etc. and I wanted to give back the same way. It's also sort of a proof that I haven't re-painted half of the image, like most photographers do these days
# petermolnar it does not :)
# petermolnar WP extracts the usual exif stuff, but not lens info, for example
# petermolnar which was crucial for my taste
# petermolnar lol
# petermolnar achievement unlocked, Loqi told me off :D
# [jgmac1106] A digital camera photo challenge/learning community would be fun
# [jgmac1106] aaronpk++
# petermolnar yeah, got that, sorry
electronicmaji joined the channel
# petermolnar why: learning, teaching, fulfilling my idea that photography is about capturing something that sometimes, somewhere, existed, even if for a brief second or as a trick of the light
# [jgmac1106] It was the GitHub link
# petermolnar I realised
# [jgmac1106] Did you see mattermost just raised $50 million as open source Slsck alternative?
# petermolnar there's one more goal, especially with the lens info: the can be incredible differences between lens, and with that info, it might be a bit more obvious
# petermolnar [jgmac1106]: ... - but do they at least put it on the Edge and base it on the Blockchain?
# [jgmac1106] Gwg look to see how Flickr and Google photo do it. Prior art
# [jgmac1106] No then it would be a 100 million dollar raise
KempfCreative and [manton] joined the channel
# [manton] jacky: It's interesting how expectations can shape our opinion of things. When you said "an interface that wove different blogs together to encourage social interactions", I thought... Yeah, that is pretty much Micro.blog. 🙂 But the goal was never to encourage social interactions, although I think it does that. The goal was just to get people to blog at all!
# [jgmac1106] Yeah its an interesting audience split. Tbose who want their site on microblog and those who want to connect
# [jgmac1106] And I love the fediverse integration and new reader features.. But would agree most people define microblog more as a network than a CMS
# [jgmac1106] It gets lumped in like Mastodon as a Twitter alternative in much of the discussions I see

# [jgmac1106] Two user stories to tell. To me it is amazing how far you come. Over time it will grow especially if new voices cultivated

# petermolnar I could extend my static gen with an interesting functionality: if I add a html version of a content besides the markdown, I could use the html as full source, not just for the h-entry. Thus archived full pages could exist. It would, on the other hand, break my navigation, so the fundamental question is: how important is a site navigation?

# [jgmac1106] [Khurt] was thinking have you tried the multiphoto gallery plugin for microblog... I know your big need is a better IndieWeb photography CMS...microblog does this well
# [jgmac1106] petermolnar Loqi didn't nudge you there but good rule of thumb any mention of mf2 is probably #dev but if someone getsctona sitecand does not know whete to go they will not come back
# [jgmac1106] Gets on a site* now my cracked screen messing with my spelling as well as my bad nerves

# [Khurt] I doubt micro.blog is a solution for me. I don’t want any form of censorship over my content.
# petermolnar there are multiple issues there; the plan, right now, is to pull the closest archive from archive.org, but I have changed domains and navigation.
# petermolnar so whatever I do, the old navigation will not work
# petermolnar basically what I was thinking is that from now on, I'm going to create a "memento" file: the first ever render version of the document, and save it into the source material. For those I do not have one, I'll try to find one on archive.org.
# petermolnar due to changing cms systems, domains, etc, it's much, much trickier, than it sounds :)
# [Khurt] [jgmac1106] to move to micro.blog I would want to move my existing 5400 blog posts and over 6800 images, (with captions) all comments, etc.
# [jgmac1106] That is hard. Think you would like Kirby. IndieWeb building blocks not native but beautifully set up for photography out of box
# petermolnar huh. I have a trend. I tend to change domain names and/or systems in July. At least is very much seems like this happened at least 5 times now.
# [Khurt] I sued to have multiple websites but the hosting cost + time + cognitive load of managing that was burdensome. I collapse several websites under the one domain several years ago. The “censorship” statement may seem harsh but from my perspective being “IndieWeb” means having as much control as possible.
# [jgmac1106] Best of luck, and thanks for the photo advice
# [Khurt] There are a lot of very good WordPress themes for photographers. However, none of them support microformat2. I’ve been looking for over a year. Without microformats, Webmentions, etc. do not work. I tried the MF2 plugins but the results were “unpleasant”.
# [Khurt] I never did see your photo. For iPhone photos I would definitely try using the manual controls to get more contrast between the water and the land.
# [Khurt] I recommend adding this website to your feed: https://iphonephotographyschool.com/
# petermolnar why?
# petermolnar gave me 3 popups on visit
# petermolnar if you want an interesting blog on photo, I'd rather recommend them: http://ilovehatephoto.com/
# [jgmac1106] https://archive.org/details/fatherdayhike starting to use my slr more... Always bugged me riverbanks just flatten out

# [Khurt] The dynamic range of most smartphones is limited. Some other things to try on the iPhone. Try using the HDR mode. If that still doesn’t work, I’ve had success using ProCam: https://islandinthenet.com/iphone-camera-bag/
# [Khurt] ProCam is not at version 6: https://www.procamapp.com

neceve, [eddie] and [grantcodes] joined the channel
# [grantcodes] So it's working well for you jackjamieson?
# jackjamieson [grantcodes] Log in seems faster and more reliable. Channel lists are displayed with post counts. I've noticed one of my channels is not displaying posts (it says there are no posts even though this is not the case), and I'm in the middle of troubleshooting that.
# jackjamieson Yarns sends a bit of additional data beyond the Microsub spec (e.g. a 'references' property with additional details about likes, replies, etc.). I'm testing now to see if that's causing the problem. These are generated by GWG's Parse-This, but perhaps I should filter them out of Yarns' responses.
# [grantcodes] Nah, it should handle that and just ignore it.

# snarfed lumpy, but a few optimizations have reduced costs over time, while usage has consistently gone up (https://snarfed.org/2019-01-02_bridgy-stats-update-4 ). good trend.

# petermolnar wheee! memento feature! - ok, on more reasonable wording: after getting inspired by that "But how can I then keep the style and layout of all my posts and pages in sync? Simple: don’t! " qoute from http://john.ankarstrom.se/html/ I added a tiny backfiller to my generator to fetch first captured snapshots as memento.html next to my rendered articles, and it worked. I now have a link on the top as "how it origin
# petermolnar ally looked in [post publish year]" which takes you to the original(ish) version. I should have done this so many years ago... a lot of the articles are not captured in the wayback machine close enough to it's original date.
# petermolnar oh, no, no multiple stacks
# petermolnar it's a single html, with inlined css, and such
# petermolnar only the images are not inlined
# petermolnar no, I do not :)
# petermolnar that's the thing
# petermolnar it's a captured snapshot
# petermolnar when it was rendered, as it was, at that time
# jackjamieson snarfed++ for bridgy and transparency. Modest costs given bridgy's value, but still substantial and much appreciated!
