[timothy_chamberHi everyone: I was considering creating a #Mastodon instance just devoted to the #Openweb and #indieweb writ large. Here was my idea posted there. Do folks think that would be a helpful setting for public discussions? Here was my post on Mastodon asking what the tech community there thought....
aaronpk[timothy_chambers] Mastodon isn't really a forum, so even though some people create instances for specific communities, it's more about creating that instance for the governance of the specific community than to have a place to talk. I know myself and at least a few others have no interest in maintaining a separate account somewhere, but would happily join conversations from our own websites using bridgy
[snarfed]aha thx [jgmac1106]. [timothy_chambers] you'll probably want to update the web site link on your mastodon profile, it's broken since it has the www
[tonz]I want to have both: be able to post and receive responses directly from my site as a Mastodon account, as well as post separately there. This because not all of my Mastodon stream is fully public, most of it is follower only (similarly for my private Twitter account, and my FB account). So having my blog be my ActivityPub stream isnβt enough, until/unless my blog is able to do audience specific postings.
