!tell [jgmac1106] Can you please point me to research showing a difference in citations either before and after or with and without academia.edu? I’d like to cite it in something I am writing.

here's my indieweb thing for today / yesterday (a bit meta but figured it may be of general interest from a display/design perspective) https://indieweb.org/Template:indiewebcamps-timeline

(corrections welcome — pretty sure I captured all actual IndieWebCamps that happened, had photos taken etc.)

jeremeycherfas it is a self published study but all the data is open: https://medium.com/academia/academia-edu-citations-and-open-science-in-action-4a24a6376573

are there any reasons why an archive.org copy can not be treated as POSSE?
#
GWG
Who reads the POSSEd copy? Other than that...it is .

[tantek] move the years off the portland line if you can, that was confusing, especially as it was solid.
#
[KevinMarks]
A small multiples idea would be to use the attendee photo for the event instead of the solid colour block, but the shape may not work

!tell [jgmac1106] Many thanks. And the original paper is in a respectable journal, too. I'm not too bothered about their reanalysis, although I do think there are some more interesting ways to divide the sample than academia.edu vs not available online. Copmparing PLOS in academia with PLOS outside academia would be interesting.

Like, I may be weird, but when I saw that the paper was in an open access journal, I went to that journal to download it, rather than giving academia.edu my email for the privilege.

Kevinmarks will do. I put them there to help with discoverability of the clickability of all the bars

ah - that didn't help me realise that they were clickable, it just made portland look special

what is Nürnberg?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "Nürnberg" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "Nürnberg is ____", a sentence describing the term)

Some of the colours lose contrast. Not sure if there's a good mitigation

Yeah I cant tell many apart but you have the data point of city name on one axis and year on the left so color of the cell not important
#
jgmac1106
i mean right but I was able to visualize what you are doing but the city hex codes need more contrast, or make a pictograph of all the city emojis…this is so cool, congrats
