#[Michael_Beckwitanyone know how to clear image caches for https://xn--sr8hvo.ws ? I updated my hcard image and it's broken on the webring profile area

#bekomotion[m]o/ did anyone find a way to add a private Patreon feed to a Microsub server? They seem to offer "only" rss feeds for audio and scraping is not really feasible due to obfuscated identifiers. Means nothing is really tagged or has mf and writing a parser for such ever changing systems is a PITA. There is an api/stream endpoint tho that does offer structured data so mayhap granary may be suitable.

#Loqipayment in the context of the indieweb refers to a feature on an indie web site that provides a way for the visitor to that website to pay (currency, gift card credit, etc.) the person represented by that indie web site https://indieweb.org/payment

#[schmarty][Michael_Beckwith] you can clear/refresh your h-card profile on 🕸 by signing in. There are buttons on your dashboard page for just this purpose.
#[Michael_Beckwithmm, tried that and it didn’t fix things. I may try again a bit later. I also have a feeling that the large graphic I’m trying to get fetched is too far down (in the footer) and it’s causing the parsing to grab a smaller version than i intend
#[schmarty]Interesting. indiewebify.me has a pretty great h-card validator (and might be a good second opinion if 🕸 is doing unexpected things)
#[schmarty]Feel free to ping me in -dev if I can help!
#bekomotion[m]Yeah, using this validator all the time for the last 3 days now 😆 It just doesn't read much information. Only the most important ones.

#[Michael_Beckwitwell the image refreshed but I’m back to my smaller version so it’s fuzzy. I’m pretty sure my post header area is getting found first and that’s a tiny image. Will tweak soon

#Loqi[snarfed] has 32 karma in this channel over the last year (78 in all channels)
#[snarfed]i'll add them to twitter-atom too. not fb-atom though, since i don't currently scrape out all the individual structured data, and since no one uses granary for fb

#[snarfed]i got inspired/shamed by all of the branding/design nudges and revised https://brid.gy/ 's tagline. feedback welcome!
#[snarfed]new: "Bridgy connects social media to your web site. Likes, retweets, mentions, cross-posting, and more... "
#[snarfed]old: "Got a web site? Want replies and likes from social networks? Want to tweet, post, and more? Bridgy is for you."
#[snarfed]i might drop the second sentence altogether. not sure.
fluffy and kensp joined the channel
#jackythe second sentence helps describe _what_ it's sharing imo
#jeremycherfasI would reverse it. Connects your website to social media.

#[aarongustafson]In my understanding, likes are calculated based on likes of shares of the url and specific ’’like-of” mentions. Is there any way to provide a link that will initiate a “like” via an indie mentioner or twitter, etc?
[KevinMarks] joined the channel
#[snarfed]jeremycherfas hmm ok! any particular reason?
#jeremycherfas[snarfed]: because the emphasis should be on your website, imho.
#jeremycherfasI dunno jacky. Why are they interested in that case? Maybe this might prompt them to want a website, if they know they can still do social.

#[fluffy]I know plenty of folks who don’t want a website, they just want to vaguely Be Social.
#[fluffy]Usually on Mastodon or Twitter or whatever
#[fluffy]they think of having a website as being, like, a collected archive of directed stuff, as opposed to their Mastodon profile being a collected archive of shitposts
#[Michael_Beckwiti dunno, if they’re on mastodon, they’re potentially more interested than not
#[fluffy]Yeah but most folks on mastodon seem to see having a website as being, like, its own thing in isolation, and costing money.
#[fluffy]Having a mastodon identity is “free” and gives them a lot of stuff they don’t realize is available outside of activitypub
#[fluffy]Whenever I release a major feature on publ I always get at least one person asking (on mastodon) if I could add activitypub support to publ so they can have it on mastodon too
#[snarfed]jgmac1106++ great answer. as usual, buying domain + DNS are the main stumbling blocks to making even m.b your own real web site
#Loqijgmac1106 has 24 karma in this channel over the last year (114 in all channels)
#[snarfed]manton++ for working on automating/streamlining that
#Loqimanton has 19 karma in this channel over the last year (38 in all channels)
#[fluffy]And like I do sorta support activitypub via bridgy fed but there’s so much I’d have to do (and don’t want to do) to support it properly directly
#[fluffy]And for context a lot of the above posts were in a slack thread, sorry to the folks on irc and web chat
#[fluffy](I know they appear but the context gets weird)
#[jgmac1106]And I am biased, been hard core group of teachers pushing blogging and rss since folks declared it all dead in 2004ish. People unboarded every year. For us. RSS can't come back. It never died
#[snarfed]i think slack threaded replies now go to IRC
