On the photo posting motivation, I use Instagram for rare, striking pictures (the original use case). Foursquare for places, and I share food etc to Google maps when it's a place that I want to stay in business. Too many places have little to no web presence so I want to help their SEO.

[KevinMarks] those are good motivations. For the Google maps case I *really* don't want to contribute to that silo. I want to find an IndieWeb solution to the problem of "Too many places have little to no web presence so I want to help their SEO"

with woodwind offline, are there currently any polling-based h-feed readers?
#
[tantek]
pretty sure they're all polling-based. not sure any are actually consuming WebSub
#
[tantek]
what is a social reader?
#
Loqi
A reader (AKA indie reader or social reader) in the context of the indieweb is the portion/feature integrated into an indieweb site that provides a way to read content from other indieweb sites, possibly including posts from the current site, and respond (like, comment, repost, etc) inline in the reading UI itself https://indieweb.org/social_reader
#
vilhalmer
oh, huh
#
[tantek]
however I highly encourage you to file feature request issues on any/all of them that are open source for them to add WebSub support!
#
vilhalmer
I'm working on an intro post for my site that talks about the ecosystem and I was looking for the reader with the least amount of up-front setup needed to sign into, to point at
#
vilhalmer
I guess conflating that with polling is inaccurate :)
#
vilhalmer
was just trying to avoid microsub support as a pre-req to trying things out
#
[tantek]
why avoid?
#
vilhalmer
was hoping to point to a minimum-viable example of how to use an h-feed, obviously microsub is the right way to go once you're getting established
#
vilhalmer
(I don't even have it implemented yet)
#
vilhalmer
oh, https://unicyclic.com/ pretty good, only requires web sign-in
