[snarfed]ah, it's from area 120. skunkworks, basically. some big co's like google have small and medium things like this that are just individual teams' projects, and don't reflect any big top-down initiative or deliberate push
jgmac1106I knew it was skunkworks, but G+ still lives on as collections, and Google is getting more and more agressive with Maps as a network, not totally sure they have given up on idea
[snarfed]oh lots of teams probably still want it, agreed. i guess my point is that there's often no single coherent "they" in big co's like google, as much as a bunch of smaller groups (including exec leadership) that overlap but definitely aren't the same
jgmac1106I have been capturing screenshots of the notifications for Maps. Google has a gamification point system with no real perks, and they continously bombard your notification shade with prompts for more reviews and photos
jgmac1106aagree snarfed been leaving them on because A: I am starting to get value by getting free stuff or being asked to review local businesses, and B to document, and C because Dopamine drugs work
jgmac1106bout halfway there KevinMarks but most are landmarks or parks, I guess I am the biggest reviewer in my county (Middlesex, CT) its a weird new local microinfluencer level, starting to be sought out
