#[chrisaldrich]that's alright... I didn't expect them to take it seriously. The key is to get them to use Micropub though and not build it 5 times for each platform....

#Loqi[Greg McVerry] @threadreaderapp Please also Just serve up plain HTML and you will work on ALL the platforms regardless of plugin infrastructure ....I look at source code and copy paste to do things like: https://jgregorymcverry.com/webmentionbadgespressedconf19
#[jgmac1106]chrisaldrich++ it will be awesome not have to copy their source code and fine replace all my markup

#[jgmac1106]thought I am sure serving up the tweets in plain HTML violates Twitter ToS that has very specific rules on how embedded tweets must look
#dckcgot me wondering about printing more stuff... maybe even microfilm
#dckcprobably not worth bothering about, given other risks and priorities
#[tantek]Yeah that scenario is pretty far down on the likelihood list
#[tantek]I’ll wait for the 3D rock printer to make archives of my posts

#[fluffy] One of the plot points in my comic Unity is that much of their continued knowledge comes from an ancient archive of Wikipedia stored in a quartz crystal. So their knowledge is a bit flaky because it’s Wikipedia but also even quartz slowly evaporates over time.
#[fluffy]Not that it matters on a time scale for individual medical records of course.
#[fluffy](You also wouldn’t want your records to be read-only.)
#[fluffy]But like yeah laser printers can print at high enough resolution that you can do a pretty good job of saving storage space by shrinking it down and it’s still readable with a magnifying device.

#[fluffy]When I was in college one of my professors said we could have as many notes as we could fit on both sides of a sheet of paper, and I had really good eyesight, so I printed all my notes in a 3-point font and could read it just fine. Not that I needed to, I was just being a smartass.
#[fluffy]I mean I did ask if there was a font size minimum and he said “you’re not allowed to bring in a magnifying glass” so it’s not like I broke any rules.

#[tantek]Hey folks, the Opt Out Tools team have released their browser extension to hide misogyny from feeds! (Their founder Teresa gave a keynote at IWC Berlin2 in November where we also hosted their hackathon!) https://twitter.com/optoutools/status/1236253985457295360
#LoqiThanks! We need one more person to confirm the retweet!

#aaronpkhere's an interesting question... if you block someone, should that also block posts from other people who mention both you and the other person in a post?
#[tantek]No system I know of or have seen works like that
#aaronpksimilar but slightly different question is if you block a person who replied to you and then someone replies to that post, but they are not blocked, should you not see that post too?
#[tantek]depends if they kept you in the canoe or not
#sknebelI think if you mute an account name on Twitter it works like that (which is distinct from blocking them)
#aaronpki'm having this problem right now trying to block this thread i got pulled in to on mastodon
#[tantek]no sknebel, again it depends on whether you are explicitly @-mentioned or not
#aaronpki blocked the originating server, but i'm still getting notices of people liking posts in the reply chain since i'm mentioned in all these posts
[fluffy] joined the channel
#[tantek]yeah you'll get notifications on any post you're mentioned in, that is not from a blocked account/server

#aaronpki guess what i'm really trying to do is mute this thread
#[tantek]interesting! not sure we've actually documented that
#[tantek]though it's definitely something you can do in Slack and FB for example
#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "it called in the UI though" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "it called in the UI though is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "mute conversation" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "mute conversation is ____", a sentence describing the term)

#[tantek]mute conversation is a feature on [[Twitter]] and [[Mastodon]] that stops notifications of replies to a specific thread that you started or were mentioned in.
