#[tantek]GWG, depends on Micropub client support vs server support. What aaronpk says is correct for why a project should add Micropub server support.

#[chrisaldrich]One of the pitches I've seen that is of interest to developers/agencies building for clients who seem to have a difficult time "teaching" the WordPress interface to end users is that it could greatly simplify the process of adding content to their sites. Most people don't need a full editor (Gutenberg or the Classic Editor with dozens and dozens of meta boxes), so having only a few simple bits of interface helps people not only use their
#[chrisaldrich]sites, but likely post more often because it's easier.
#[chrisaldrich]I could also imagine agencies who build for clients hosting custom clients (with their branding potentially) for easy posting, but also helping to maintain an ongoing relationship with those agencies.

#[pfefferle]the indieauth dependency might be a problem?
#[chrisaldrich]Having an import/export client that used Micropub would be an awesome use case too... (but that doesn't exist--yet.)
#[chrisaldrich]There are also lots of people using WordPress as a headless CMS, and micropub could also be incredibly useful there as well.
#[chrisaldrich]And of course, my favorite fantasy: If someone built micropub support for Gutenberg, then WordPress could leverage it as an editor client for every other CMS and site product out there...
#GWGI'm going to write a post tonight with some thoughts and link to it
#[chrisaldrich]I need to finish up some thoughts on my piece and push it to A List Apart as a follow up on my series....

#[tantek][pfefferle] ironically, in the WordPress case, it seems the IndieAuth depedency fits quite well since there is the "no touch" IndieAuth plugin which allows you to use your own WordPress site as your IndieAuth endpoint, re-using all the existing login/auth for your WordPress site
