timotimo to my knowledge, I've only got one "Owning my live streaming" post and the fact that there's a video there should be an indication that the whole thing worked out. Sorry you missed it live and got stuck with the time shifted version instead.
#
timotimo
is there any info on how you did it etc? i assume you used some kind of pre-existing wordpress plugin maybe?
#
[chrisaldrich]
I think I may have posted some of the details privately on my own site?
#
[chrisaldrich]
What is Hapity?
#
Loqi
Hapity is an IndieWeb compatible live streaming service for allowing people to more easily create live streams from their websites https://indieweb.org/Hapity
#
[chrisaldrich]
But I did document some of the pieces there ^^ timotimo
#
[chrisaldrich]
Apparently I did describe it, in the very next post after the one you mentioned. And it was apparently a livestream itself.... 🙂

This seems like a pretty big deal that folks here would care about (especially if you're a Craft and/or WordPress user or considering either) https://adrianroselli.com/2020/09/gutenberg-accessibility-costs-wordpress-the-w3c-work.html

ok, I added "https://blog.jim-nielsen.com/2020/indexing-my-blogs-links/ describing intern analytics of one's site" to the "See Also" section of /website-analytics https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=72856&oldid=71615

As a Craft user I had no idea that W3C had moved to using it, but I'm excited they have  Good article, thanks for sharing 🙂
#
[chrisaldrich]
What is Craft?
#
Loqi
Craft is a commercial PHP/MySQL CMS, with hosted and self-hosted options https://indieweb.org/Craft
#
[chrisaldrich]
[Murray] you should add your example

[Murray] I've finally implemented your suggestion for a fairer Random Page. Instead of simply picking a random page from all the pages, I now first pick a random domain from all the domains, and then pick a random page from that domain. Based on current numbers (446 domains and 22,829 pages), that means everyone now has a 1 in 446 chance of their site coming up, whereas previously someone with a 10 page site would have had a 1 in 2,282
#
[michael_lewis]
chance and someone with a 500 page site would have had a 1 in 46 chance.

I have a problem trying to add a webmention - it says no link found, but it is there when using the php.microformats.io. Anything I can check?
#
aaronpk
i don't see the link when i look at the parsed page in php.microformats.io
#
drsprite
strange, i do
#
drsprite
under noopener and noreferrer sections
#
aaronpk
oh it's not going to look there
#
drsprite
ah, where's it look?
#
aaronpk
technically webmention.io is being more strict than usual here
#
aaronpk
it found an h-entry so it expects it to be in there
#
drsprite
ah ha, i just added the h-entry
#
aaronpk
if there was no h-entry, then it would have worked
#
drsprite
yeah, it worked earlier, and then i added h-entry and it broke
#
drsprite
so that explains that
#
drsprite
do you have a link on a proper h-entry format?
#
aaronpk
what is h-entry?
#
Loqi
h-entry is the microformats2 vocabulary for marking up blog posts on web sites https://indieweb.org/h-entry
#
aaronpk
that's a start, but also
#
drsprite
sweet, thanks for the explanation
#
aaronpk
what is an article?
#
Loqi
An article is a kind of post that typically has more structure than a simple note. Articles usually have a name (title), multiple paragraphs, and often subheadings, blockquotes, embedded images, and a footer of references or citations https://indieweb.org/article
#
drsprite
perfect i'll check those out
#
drsprite
thanks!
#
drsprite
Is there a cache on webmention.io? I've updated the h-entry and I see the URL in h-content, but still says URL not found in content
#
aaronpk
check the microformats, it's a bit wrong still
#
drsprite
damn thought i had it
#
aaronpk
try to match the example here https://indieweb.org/article
#
drsprite
Yeah thats what i was trying to do
#
drsprite
oh, it's e-content, not h-content... oops
#
drsprite
now it's a success

Would this be any better if you redirected all the video and streamed from your own server instead of using Amazon? https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/24/technology/amazon-ring-drone.html
#
aaronpk
depends on how they handle mapping out the house, and whether you care that might be stored on amazon too
#
aaronpk
but definitely keeping the video within your own network would be a huge improvement
#
aaronpk
that's the reason i only use cameras that stay on my local network. none of this recording to google's cloud nonsense

#

i think it's funny that roombas have been mapping out houses since before cloud-connected in-home devices were "normal", and yet somehow it's now seen as a stretch to make a device that does that sort of thing and *doesn't* send all the data to the cloud
