[girrodocus]Hi all. I'm new to all of this (indieweb, web development, servers, etc etc), except for a few months of Python experience which might not be particularly relevant.
[girrodocus]I have a domain name and I have a few ideas for where I'd like to get to as my knowledge develops. But right now I'm stuck knowing what to do next. I don't have any hosting, however a friend has suggested I try signing up for a VPS. I've had a quick look on the Yunohost, Cloudron, and Contabo sites but I don't really know what I'm looking at. Could anyone suggest a way forward for me?
[girrodocus]I'm particularly keen to avoid any security trouble as I don't have any sysadmin experience. I'm very open to learning, but it will have to be beginner-friendly.
[chrisaldrich]WordPress.com has had some pretty good export, and other content management services use that to their benefit to do import into their platforms.
[chrisaldrich]Is just two threaded tweets a storm? I thought two was a Twitter depression, three a strong breeze, four a gale, and five or more a tweetstorm? š¬ ā š§ :lightning_cloud: š
[chrisaldrich]I'm surprised that Twitter doesn't bring Posterous back as a middle ground before they start pressing the pedal on Revue. Why not own the whole distribution stream?
[chrisaldrich]Not related: Maybe we need a posting service that does single letters or maybe just a word at a time? There's definitely prior art in other media: https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/A
LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "collective nouns for social media platforms" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "collective nouns for social media platforms is ____", a sentence describing the term)
