#raghavgururajanjeremycherfas: Oops! My comment hasn't appeared yet (awaiting moderation). I recommended IndieWeb to the OP, to decouple themselves from Corporate Web.

#[girrodocus]Hi all. I'm new to all of this (indieweb, web development, servers, etc etc), except for a few months of Python experience which might not be particularly relevant.
#[girrodocus]Where I'd ultimately like to get to would be:
#[girrodocus]1. domain name points to my personal site
#[girrodocus]I have a domain name and I have a few ideas for where I'd like to get to as my knowledge develops. But right now I'm stuck knowing what to do next. I don't have any hosting, however a friend has suggested I try signing up for a VPS. I've had a quick look on the Yunohost, Cloudron, and Contabo sites but I don't really know what I'm looking at. Could anyone suggest a way forward for me?
#[girrodocus]I'm particularly keen to avoid any security trouble as I don't have any sysadmin experience. I'm very open to learning, but it will have to be beginner-friendly.
#Loqihey [girrodocus]: we try to keep dev talk out of this channel, can you move to #indieweb-dev?
#[girrodocus]2. personal site is some kind of blog/wiki hybrid in the mode of a 'digital garden' (birdirectional links, etc)
#[girrodocus]3. site is fairly easy to update (including from iphone)
#[girrodocus]4. in time, greater integration with indieweb using various plugins, libraries etc.
#[tantek]looks like a step toward multi-step progress

#[chrisaldrich]WordPress.com has had some pretty good export, and other content management services use that to their benefit to do import into their platforms.
#[chrisaldrich]Is just two threaded tweets a storm? I thought two was a Twitter depression, three a strong breeze, four a gale, and five or more a tweetstorm? š¬ ā š§ :lightning_cloud: š
#KartikPrabhuby that count, some people do a twittericane!
#sknebelis there a word for a long thread that gets exended over a long time? "storm" doesnt quite fit it if it takes weeks to build up
#[tantek][schmarty] and here I thought the Twitter collective noun was "mob"
#[tantek][chrisaldrich] don't think I didn't see your preposterous puntempt
#[chrisaldrich]I'm surprised that Twitter doesn't bring Posterous back as a middle ground before they start pressing the pedal on Revue. Why not own the whole distribution stream?
#[schmarty]tantek: a mob of Twitter posters. a depression of Twitter readers.
#[chrisaldrich]Not related: Maybe we need a posting service that does single letters or maybe just a word at a time? There's definitely prior art in other media: https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/A

#[chrisaldrich]What are collective nouns for social media platforms?
#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "collective nouns for social media platforms" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "collective nouns for social media platforms is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#[jgmac1106]there are enough Twitter readers left top be called a mob?
