yes! interesting that we have pretty extensive experience with syndicating _posts_ in silos, and backfeeding etc, but we've done very little experimenting with syndicating _profile_ info like this
#
[snarfed]
more examples would be POSSEing profile picture, profile links, bio/description, etc
#
[snarfed]
probably manual until it hurts territory, since profile info changes very infrequently
#
[snarfed]
(except, when you do, you usually want to do it in a ton of silos at the same time)
#
[aciccarello]
Agreed. Many integrations would probably break more often than that content changes. Still, getting frustrated updating profiles on multiple site was one thing that lead to my interest in the indieweb. Now I tend to fill out less on profiles and point to my personal site.
#
[aciccarello]
I've thought about doing PESOS for some profile data, specifically gravatar and job history data from linked in.
#
[tantek]
what is a profile
#
Loqi
Your homepage represents you on the web, typically at the top of your domain, with your name and an iconic representation, often marked up with h-card, and fairly commonly one or more streams of recent, topical, or most relevant posts marked up with h-entry https://indieweb.org/profile
#
[snarfed]
heh, yes but no
#
[tantek]
what is bio
#
Loqi
A bio is a commonly occurring page or homepage section that provides a summary description about a person https://indieweb.org/bio

how about aaron's profile pics that match emoji being pesos'd into silos with each post
#
[KevinMarks]1
LJ could cope
#
aaronpk
still one of my favorite features of my website
#
[aciccarello]
That is a fun feature

#
[tantek]
indeed. for a while some tried with ads inserted into feed files
#
Ruxton
yeah I could deal with that, that kinda worked
#
Ruxton
it started with a lot of the comics i was following on feeds, they all stopped embedding the comic or having full feeds so they could track clickthroughs and display ads to people

The incentives for openness and interoperability don’t exist for massive incumbents which is annoying as hell.

edgeduchess[d] I have created a new Open Source page. I'd love contributions!
#
capjamesg[d]
That is call to everyone. I added a few Python examples but would love more to add!
#
Loqi
hey capjamesg[d]: can you move the tech talk (open source, Python) to #indieweb-dev to keep this channel more inclusive and inviting?

[snarfed]
capjamesg fun! how will the projects section on it relate to https://indieweb.org/projects ?
#
capjamesg[d]
The open source page is explicitly for listing IndieWeb projects that are open to contributions / have active maintainers.
#
[snarfed]
ok! so should those projects go on both pages?
#
capjamesg[d]
I envision /open-source being more about facilitating contributions. Whereas /projects is more of a place to list projects that will help people get on to the IndieWeb.
