That feeling when you go looking for something to make sure you're remembering it right so you can tell someone about it, and find a nice conversation they had with someone else about it already so you don't need to tell them

Very nice grand piano at Fiumicino. Furthermore, last time we were there, very good pianists.

Also this news broke: rumored to be launching in June and at some point would be Mastodon interoperable....

I’ve had the idea in my head of a collection of easily guessable, user-facing pages that personal sites “should” have: /about, /links, /now, /uses, maybe /humans.txt. I’ve been trying to come up with a name for the collection of pages. “slashpages” is the best I’ve come up with but wondering if anyone else has ideas?
#
capjamesg
I have been thinking about that too!
#
capjamesg
Like /avatar for one's canonical avatar.
#
[Caleb_Hearth]
that’s not bad
#
[Caleb_Hearth]
Currently I’m limiting it to thigns that are already established for the most part.
#
[snarfed]
"well-known" 😆
#
capjamesg
No [snarfed] XD
#
capjamesg
This is user facing.
#
[snarfed]
yup hence the joke

You could actually get a histogram of the top paths throughout the web by inspecting the cache of a web proxy or a YaCy crawler.
#
Loqi
hey bkil: we try to keep dev talk (RSS, YaCy) out of this channel, can you move to #indieweb-dev?
#
[snarfed]
should also be an easy SQL query in https://indiemap.org/

bkil
Good idea. 2300 sites doesn't sound like a representative WWW subset, though.

not at all, but unlike the web in general, it's heavily enriched for individual personal web sites
#
[snarfed]
so, tradeoffs
#
[snarfed]
also way more accessible than a big web proxy or yacy
#
[tantek]
capjamesg, /icon already handles the use-case of "one's canonical avatar", no need for another
#
[tantek]
capjamesg, [snarfed] was right: https://indieweb.org/well-known has "user facing" pages on there.

↩️ That’s interesting. I’m not sure where to start looking into that.

for anyone who has a Wikipedia User account, go add your rel=me to your personal site! Here's how: https://indieweb.org/rel-me#Wikipedia

btw this month is the 24th anniversary of the term "blog!" per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog#History

I can’t get indie-map / indiemap to show up in bigquery search. I’m wondering if it was removed.

[Caleb_Hearth] it's definitely still there! the link in the docs (https://indiemap.org/docs.html#data-mining ) still works for me. dataset id indie-map.indiemap

↩️ Getting into #indieweb-dev territory here but this is in the console.
#
[snarfed]
↩️ hmm yeah I'm seeing that too in another account, but oddly bigquery says it's open to the public
#
[snarfed]
↩️ sorry for the trouble, I'll keep looking
