[0x3b0b] I think you're right about the timing; if I remember correctly the term was coined to distinguish the OStatus-speaking network from Diaspora, but I'm only finding one article from 2018 that makes the same assertion without a useful citation. If I remember correctly, I first came across the term either between when pump.io was announced and when Identica switched to it or shortly after that switch, but that doesn't help narrow it down any.
