chrisaldrich long time no see!
#
[snarfed]
that sounds like [caseorganic]ā€™s kind of thing
#
[chrisaldrich]
It's been a longer than usual summer. I've been lurking though...
#
GWG
[chrisaldrich]: We miss you
#
[chrisaldrich]
I'm always around, just lots of changes, particularly with respect to family.
#
[chrisaldrich]
What's new?
#
GWG
I'm trying to figure out if I can get to Nuremberg
#
[snarfed]
[chrisaldrich] Twitter is dying, threads are on Threads, Bitcoin has its own (non-)silo, everyone claims they're joining the fediverse...nevertheless, the indieweb persisted
#
GWG
I want to push myself to write more on my site
#
[snarfed]
that should cover it
#
[chrisaldrich]
Thanks snarfed.... I think I was up on it all except the bitcoin piece which I quit watching two years ago. šŸ™‚
#
[snarfed]
yeah I was mostly joking šŸ˜†
#
[chrisaldrich]
I know a lot of people who feel unmoored due to the slow dying of Twitter and no where else to go...
#
[snarfed]
(the bitcoin thing is https://nostr.com/ )
#
[chrisaldrich]
snarfed++ for "nevvertheless, the indieweb persisted.

snarfed has 35 karma in this channel over the last year (157 in all channels)
#
[chrisaldrich]
I'll take it back then, I knew about Nostr, just not the underlying bitcoin plumbing.
#
[snarfed]
ah no none of that, overlap is purely cultural
#
[chrisaldrich]
What is Factr?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "Factr" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "Factr is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
[chrisaldrich]
I actually heard about AllTechIsHuman from Michael Grossman of https://factr.com/ who I've been on a couple of conference calls on recently.
#
[chrisaldrich]
It seems like a silo with a reasonable base, but I've not dug into it very deeply yet.
#
[chrisaldrich]
That compare chart is a pretty solid overview. Thanks.
#
[snarfed]
welcome!

With the changes in Facebook and Twitter API access, POSSE with back feed has become challenging. What are some things that IndieWeb WordPress are doing to overcome these challenges?
#
rubenwardy
My solution for that was to quit Twitter
#
rubenwardy
Maybe you could do stuff manually or use a browser plugin to sync
#
[tw2113_Slack_]
i gave up on Twitter
#
[tw2113_Slack_]
iā€™m awaiting the day that the url redirects to http://x.com

agreed. khurtwilliams a number of us looked and tried pretty hard, but couldn't come up with anything reasonable. technical background on Bridgy specifically: Twitter https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy/issues/1410 , Facebook https://brid.gy/about#rip-facebook

[preview] [snarfed] #1410 Handle Twitter API going paid
#
[snarfed]
write-only POSSE for Twitter is definitely doable on their free API plan though! I don't personally plan to build for that, given how much the API has degraded and how it now seems largely unmaintained, https://snarfed.org/the-twitter-api-is-now-effectively-unmaintained , but feel free to try
