#starrwulfeNot sure if this is the right place to bring this up, but commentpara.de doesn't seem to work anymore (for me at least... \*is\* it just me?)
#starrwulfeAre there any alternatives/a guide to self hosting something similar? I like being able to keep comments "closed" locally and force people to use webmention/micro.blog/activitypub/🆕 Bluesky but also wanted to keep commentpara.de in the mix to give anons/folks not registered to the indie websites a way to comment if they feel the need.
#starrwulfeonly problem is I'm not sure how well that's going to play with the webmention/activitypub stuff I've got going on already-- that all use the native comments/database table in Wordpress

#starrwulfeHere's a good example of all the things hooked into my current setup...
#[jacky]tbh the ecosystem might have such an option for anon comments, if you're into that
#[jacky]but yeah commentparade was one of a kind 🙂

#starrwulfeYeah, it might be best to give up the dream or at the very least make the native comment form a "pop up" so it doesn't clutter the page with a form

#ZegnatI guess anyone could host their own copy of commentpara.de if it has problems, it is opensource
#ZegnatNot sure if anyone has looked into that though
#[jacky]who's opposed to that being hosted in a similar fashion to the microformats parsers?

#ZegnatWe should only host it ourselves if we can soft-assign a maintainer. Preferably as a /use_what_you_make, but if that is not available at least someone who knows the programming language and would be OK with handling issues/PRs

#[tantek]commentparade is different from the microformats parsers because it is a potential source of spam, so whoever is hosting it really needs to be able to respond quickly to shutdown a login / site etc
#[tantek]also this highlights another community hosted services "requirement" — we really should have backup folks who can step in to take over a domain if the original person running / hosting it wants to step away for any reason
#[tantek]especially something that leaves permalinks on other people's sites
#starrwulfeYeah, I always wondered how this was never a spam vector. Always just assumed no spammer would really understand what it did without diving into the rabbit hole, and would then find out it wouldn't be worth it in the end anyway.
