if someone wanted to know why I spun my head around I was looking at the photo on https://braid.org/meeting-73, namely https://braid.org/files/braid-ietf-118.jpg lol

what is indiekit?
#
Loqi
Indiekit (GitHub repo) is “the little Node.js server with all the pieces needed to own your content and share it with the wider independent web” https://indieweb.org/Indiekit

chose here to speak on it but re: marginalia, is there a "guide" on how to write that effectively for one's site?
#
[KevinMarks]
We've tried out a few different things - Tufte_CSS makes them look right but are a bit awkward to author. I played with the 2 margin memex look in https://www.kevinmarks.com/memex.html and James made some web components to do it
#
[jacky]
ooh those cards on the right are cool
#
[KevinMarks]
I hand made them, but James was working on one that inserted them from a store. They aren't using the site's preview but my excerpts, so ideally they'd be from my bookmarks
#
[KevinMarks]
The thing in dev to align them with the link is neat. Without that it gets a bit tricky.

anyone here know how to bridge fediverse <> bluesky?
#
[jacky]
there's always POSSE
#
[jacky]
what is POSSE
#
Loqi
POSSE is an abbreviation for Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere, the practice of posting content on your own site first, then publishing copies or sharing links to third parties (like social media silos) with original post links to provide viewers a path to directly interacting with your content https://indieweb.org/POSSE
#
captain1
but isn't there a way to bridge without running your own site?
#
[jacky]
potentially!
#
[jacky]
but I don't know of any
#
[jacky]
and I'm not immediately sure if anyone here does (lest it'd be on the wiki)
#
[jacky]
what is BlueSky
#
Loqi
Bluesky is a public-benefit LLC and project run by Jay Graber and initially proposed by Jack Dorsey, former Twitter CEO, to “develop an open and decentralized standard for social media” and has Twitter-like features https://indieweb.org/Bluesky
#
[jacky]
perhaps something there ⬆

I think the bridgy project is close to supporting blue sky but waiting on the blue sky team to open up federation.
#
Loqi
[preview] [snarfed] Woo, this is done! All basic interactions - user discovery, following, posts, replies, likes, reposts - are now working, both directions. Not real Bluesky, only in the federation sandbox; real Bluesky will have to wait until they turn on full federat...
#
[aciccarello]
That might still need your own site. I see now you're looking for a mastodon bridge.

ah, sounds like I need to wait for federation
