It looks like we don't have a page for "memex" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "memex is ____", a sentence describing the term)

We're currently talking about hosting an IWC in Sacramento in HWC. Anyone be interested to be a co-host?

🏕 Pop-ups are one-time IndieWeb events covering a specific topic, similar to an IndieWebCamp session, or a pop-up Homebrew Website Club in a new location. The IndieWeb community is planning upcoming pop-ups — if you'd like to help, please contribute to this page https://indieweb.org/popup

[chrisaldrich] I am going to publish my advent of technical writing series as a book. I'm hoping to sell it at cost price.

[preview] [Lili Saintcrow] Since Substack is okay with Nazis, how about a thread of alternatives for people looking to get out, and possibly take their audiences with them?
#
[tw2113]
at this point, people of those beliefs would probably be best self hosting with servers in their basements
#
[tantek]
tw2113, I think that's reductionist, unhelpful, and frankly inaccurate. https://micro.blog/ being the obvious counter-example to your assertion but there's plenty more at https://indieweb.org/start
#
[tw2113]
the point I was at least hopefully intending to make is that along every step of the way, there’s potential for a service to not want to host that type of content, and could theoretically not allow it at all. To which point where could someone make their statements still available?
#
[tw2113]
even me with a VPS through DigitalOcean, could they discontinue my account if I posted that type of content through their run VPS servers?
#
[tw2113]
if you’d still prefer me to stop with this train of thought, I can let it go
#
[tantek]
that sounds like you want to have a #indieweb-dev shared, which, if you read the thread is actually focused on considering and setting up an indie(web) alternative for sending out a newsletter in particular.
#
[tw2113]
noted on those parts, and agree it would probably be best there, but I’m going to let it go anyway at this time 🙂
