[tantek] I think a lot of folks still come to Masto or other AP servers/software with "silo mindset" or "single site blinders" where yes they acknowledge on sign-up that other servers exist but kind of dismiss it mostly as a plumbing thing, and then due to the way Masto keeps you in a site-specific look & feel even when viewing others posts, the "single site illusion" is strong, and so people sink back into that mindset
