pfychI just joined as a new user and I could see everything just fine - are you potentially using an older client? The server seems to have some stuff set up where you need to read the rules first before chatting.

[KevinMarks]Setting the default on bluesky to insist that I make alt text for image posts has been training me to do it in useful ways - if it's a joke image, explain what you should recognise from it to understand the joke; if it's a screenshot with text explain the context as well as the text itself
pfychI wish there was a standardized way to add alt text into the actual metadata of images - I've got a massive folder of all the photo's I've taken and my site generator turns it into a gallery. I don't have alt text for any of these images but I feel like I should, but a separate "meta" file feels really messy :/
[Murray]@Kolev there's always PESOS. Depending on your setup, that can even be automated; post on Masto and get it automatically uploaded to your site via webhook, IFTTT/Zapier etc., loads of options 🙂
btremSuffice to say that was introduced the way NTSC was in television. One company just shipped it with no input, to the detriment of the users/viewers.
btrem[KevinMarks]: 'fraid I don't get that one. I assume it has to do with s? I have posted a couple of videos on my site, but I don't really know much about the tech.
btremJust noticed an omission on my part. Earlier I should have said ...the way NTSC was in television ++ in the United States ++. AFAIK, other countries did better.
[KevinMarks]NTSC defined the frame rate as 30000/1001 ostensibly so it didn't beat with 60Hz mains frequency. This has led to decades of fiddly nonsense keeping things in sync, including dropframe timecode
btrem[KevinMarks]++ Oh! You know more about NTSC than I do. What I know I learned from an engineer, but we worked in radio, so I know more about radio than television. Nice joke!
btremHaven't seen Summer of Soul. It's not on Netflix, right? Because I heard a review on the radio, and I'm very interested, but the only streaming sub I have is Netflix.
btremYeah, I'd think I'd have noticed if it were on Netflix. 'Cause like I said, I heard a review and I think an interview with the filmmaker (a musician whose name escapes me atm), and I remember thinking I'd like to see it. But not so much that I'm willing to fork $$ to Disney!
