xueYo, i'm new to making websites, but i was wondering: Can you put something in html code that would be visible for AI crawler but not in rendered website? Random garbage words between real content?
[Jo]yeah sure but i think the difficulty here would be how to make your website still accessible to people that rely on much the same technology as AI crawlers to understand the content. i'm talking screenreaders rn
[tantek]bkardell, on a meta-level, note how much better the meetings/meetups here than W3C are for more accessible chat to more people (Slack, Discord, IRC bridged and archived), and easier/better collaboration (Etherpad), and subsequent community archival & editing (Etherpad archived to a wiki page).
Loqi💬 Join #indieweb discussions via Discord, Slack, web chat, or IRC, (they are all bridged!) with focused channels for developers, WordPress, and meta topics! https://indieweb.org/discuss
[tantek]further down on that same event permalink, in the heading "Discussion and Notes" it says "Join the #indieweb chat to discuss and ask any questions. Chat is available from the web, IRC, Slack, or Discord." where the "Join ..." phrase is hyperlinked accordingly
[Jo]no worris xue! it's a bit of a difficult thing to do once you get into how AI scrapers and screenreaders work. but if you are only worried about the visuals its relatively easy.
