Loqihey formercanaanite [artlung], can you move the tech talk (CSS, frameworks, React, JavaScript) to #indieweb-dev to keep this channel more inclusive and inviting?
Zegnat[Sophie_Young]: that does look interesting, slightly too short notice for me to make that work though. Maybe consider adding it to events.indieweb.org? Especially if you think you might go!
[tantek][Sophie_Young]++ yes that does look interesting. Feel free to create an event for it on events.indieweb like Zegnat suggested with summary from the site, date time venue, and tickets link
formercanaaniteI have to say I'm really delighted to see that the blogs on this side of the internet are so active, it was disheartening to find like 90% of neocities sites to be abandoned.
[tantek]!tell bbbhltz I like your blog posts. Are you meaning to syndicating them all to IndieNews or only the Indieweb-topic ones? (e.g. restart and your blog carnaval entry are great!)
KupietzHey there, I need to clownsource a recommendation... my cousin in Sweden is looking for a new VOIP provider now that Skype is going away. Apparently gVoice is US domestic only. She's not tech-savvy, just needs something easy, doesn't want to use Teams. Anyone know offhand of anything?
[artlung]Voice calls can be accomplished on a lot of platforms. I mean here in this Slack we could in theory do a hangout and only share voice. Discord was built for voice sharing too. I have a friend who just called me today inside Facebook messenger to do a voice call. Now, the trick with *all* these is that they can't (to my knowledge) bridge to a regular phone number which is what you probably want, but don't sleep on them as a stopgap before a good
LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "BigBlueButton" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "BigBlueButton is ____", a sentence describing the term)
ZegnatNextCloud had a whole talk at foss-north last week on trying to fill the Teams void with open-source. Not sure if they can get voip phone numbers
LoqiNextcloud is an open source software project for self-hosted personal web services including a file manager (an indie version of Dropbox), music, calendar (CalDAV), contacts (CardDAV), and more https://indieweb.org/Nextcloud
KupietzThanks, @artlung. Yeah, for you and me there's all kinds of alternatives, but she just wants a number she can give out that will forward calls to her cell, like she could her SkypeIn number, or like a Google Voice number if that was available there. Just thought if there was any clear options this would be the place that someone knew about it. Thanks all.
