Guess I need to give it a proper title instead of the name being a prefix of the full post
#
gRegor
Resubmitted, better
#
[tantek]
gRegor++ solid post. would add -wordpress-plugin-update to the slug for findability / search juice
#
Loqi
gRegor has 8 karma in this channel over the last year (120 in all channels)
#
[tantek]
or even updates plural

gRegor
thanks! I try to keep them 4 or 5 words, but might tweak it
#
aaronpk
in that case i would have gone with lessons-custom-wordpress-plugins
#
gRegor
Yeah, title came after when I was trying to syndicate to indienews haha
#
[tantek]
guess we'll see how well indienews handles Webmention updates ๐Ÿ˜†
#
gRegor
Ooh, got an indie like from someone who works at Automattic, nice!
#
aaronpk
"uhoh" was about indienews not automattic lol
#
gRegor
I figured :)
#
gRegor
If I update, the old one will redirect so no issue with indienews
#
[tantek]
except possibly double-listing
#
gRegor
Though I'm not usually too concerned with search juice these days. Who searches?? /s
#
gRegor
I wouldn't re-send the webmention
#
gRegor
*stops the jargon before Loqi*
#
[tantek]
I mean, anyone us could ... ;)
#
aaronpk
i would hope indienews would handle the renamed page but I am not 100% confident it does
#
aaronpk
tries to describe the situation without jargon
#
gRegor
lol *devil emoji*
#
gRegor
slug is updated. optional exercise for devious viewers :)

[tantek]
gRegor when I click the prior slug link above ^ I get "No articles were published."
#
gRegor
Ooh, thanks. caching bug
#
gRegor
That one is accurate :)
#
gRegor
Well, it's an implementation detail I guess. It's pulling in things specifically tagged "article" which this one today wasn't
#
[tantek]
huh I thought it was an archive of everything September 2025
#
gRegor
It's a bit -dev, but I have different template files, one for articles and one for notes
#
Loqi
hey gRegor, we try to keep jargon (implementation, template) out of this channel to make it more inviting to newcomers, can you move this to #indieweb-dev?
#
gRegor
dangit
#
gRegor
I do want to create more complete archives for everything, not just articles. Haven't settled on how I want notes to look on there.
#
gRegor
Appreciate the URL digging :)
#
[tantek]
ah got it. no worries, did not mean to distract you from your priorities/plans. figured I should say something when I saw something ๐Ÿ™‚
#
gRegor
No worries at all! This is actually leading me to fix something related

2.5 days until aaronpk better fix the https://news.indieweb.org/en duping bug for Webmentions from posts that change their slugs (but redirect from the old to the new) before a duplicate entry in the What Weโ€™re Reading section in the weekly newsletter is sent out later today

It's my air fryer blog.
#
[artlung]
c'mon aaronpk, for that domain what reply would satisfy you? me: I LOVE IT. RIDICULOUS
#
capjamesg
It will be updated when I finally get a two-drawer air fryer.
#
aaronpk
ohh a blog ok
#
aaronpk
is it going to blog everything that it fries?
#
[artlung]
what is a single serving website?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "single serving website" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "single serving website is ____", a sentence describing the term)

It will only update if and when I change air fryers.
#
capjamesg
Ninja air fryers are cool.

i can't believe my luck that i get to share this here https://imanicoppola.bandcamp.com/album/air-fryer

TIL single-serving site.
#
[tantek]
why an airfryer blog instead of tag?
#
doesnm
[artlung]: maybe you are mean /Wikipedia:Single-serving_site
#
capjamesg
[tantek] This site needs its own identity to fully encapsulate its character.
#
[tantek]
ok! so styling/theming then
#
[artlung]
thanks doesnm. I cribbed the syntax from BBS

[artlung]
(from tantek)

capjamesg, I have an air fryer and I always seem to gravitate towards trying to make home-made french fries (without all the oil of deep frying or store-bought pre-made).
#
capjamesg
Yeah! I mostly use mine for fries.
#
capjamesg
Very occasionally fish too.

capjamesg, smart use of a subdomain over buying a separate domain. I admire the restraint ๐Ÿ˜‚
#
capjamesg
[aciccarello] The last thing I wanted to do while eating my dinner was to buy a domain name ๐Ÿ˜‚
#
[aciccarello]
I just let an unused short domain go. I'm still looking for one I can be happy with.

that's a hard one

What is travel
#
Loqi
โœˆ travel is a post type about plans to change locations, similar to an event post about going to a destination, and related to trip posts https://indieweb.org/travel

#

Iโ€™d like to raise my mapping game to include series like that, ideally importing and visualizing data from ridewithgps instead of just embedding their widgets.

That air fryer implies a dual serving website
#
[KevinMarks]
I find that the air fryer is the complement of the microwave. If you want something to be hot and damp, use the microwave. if you want it hot and crunchy use the air fryer.
#
[KevinMarks]
So it works to cook bacon, sausages, oil-shaken vegetables and to reheat pizza, Naan, fish fingers etc
#
[KevinMarks]
It beats an oven (even a toaster oven) by sheer speed of heat up for one or two person consumption
#
[KevinMarks]
And it beats a grill by being less top down,so it makes better cheese on toast, skin-on salmon or bruschetta by not burning the top while also heating the bottom
#
aaronpk
is this #indieweb-cafe?
#
capjamesg
[KevinMarks] It sounds like you, too, should have an air fryer page on your website.

#
[tantek]
GWG, wdyt of this microsyntax for travel legs? Have you seen it before? I've used it a bunch: https://indieweb.org/microsyntax#travel_leg
#
aaronpk
I prefer PDXโœˆ๏ธSFO
#
[tantek]
(actually anyone here who travels and shares plain text travel leg information in various places
#
[tantek]
aaronpk I sometimes do that too, figured I'd start with ASCII no emoji. I'll add that to the brainstorm
#
aaronpk
for ascii I like PDX->SFO
#
[tantek]
lol slack copied ": airplane :" (without the spaces) from that aaronpk

i found an actual example on my site with jut hyphen, i'll link it on the page
