people here know foursquare/swarm, right? I don't. are they still alive? if not, should I close https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy/issues/327 ?
#

I still use it daily!
#

But I don't have any desire to post likes to swarm from my website
#
[social]
There are a few of us here that still post to it daily.
#
[social]
Since Swarm is a closed friend / connection network I think posting likes from outside of the service could be problematic.

I wanted to share an article thats in draft form, actively receiving feedback, currently on my website: https://www.morganwebdev.org/posts/simple-accessibility-tooling/

[social] it so not problematic as long as you don't leak any friends-only information. The permalinks to Swarm check-ins are login-gated so that's fine.

[snarfed] I believe there is still enough of a Foursquare API at a "free" level that this should be possible if there is sufficient interest.
#
[tantek]
If I’m the only one interested, feel free to mark postpone for a year or whatever to gather more data. Or if you're trying to clean up stale issues then we can link to the issue as a "want" to the Swarm page in terms of IndieWeb support and you can close the issue as insufficient user interest.

[tantek] Would the person favoriting have anything on their site showing what and whom they favorited? I know the person in Swarm would only see it and others they are connected to. If nothing is exposed one the person favoriting’s site that is fine.

The public, private, semi-private bounds get tricky when it comes to breaking the boundaries. It is a problem that Google+ ran into and caused a lot of issues because groups were only semi-private, but you had no idea who was in or out of a group.
#
[social]
But, if you are publishing your own Swarm check-ins on your own site that would work.
#
[tantek]
Re "would the person favoriting have..." that's a larger question around what should or should you not display in a reply context on your site, especially if the the audience of the the thing you're replying to is different from the audience of your post
#
[tantek]
Google+ was weird about audience boundaries in different ways, though yes it resulted in similar violated expectations

Worse than Google+ was when Buzz used your Gmail sent/received emails to seed your Buzz following/followers and it really screwed things up for lots of folks
