That's cool, but I would want to make sure my website is able to stringently block AI crawlers who would seek to train on that (sad but true)
#
capjamesg
That is also my thought unfortunately.

What is audioblogging/
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "audioblogging/" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "audioblogging/ is ____", a sentence describing the term)

Well, Audioblogging is what Podcasting was called before it got a catchy name

I think of audio blogging as something different.
#
[Sophia_wood]
Podcasts make me feel like they are a bit more of a production
#
[morgan]
I love recording small audio samples, its been a favorite hobby for a year or two
#
[morgan]
havent really felt like publishing any of them on my website or otherwise

the voice training bot thing worry fear concern is so frustrating
#
[morgan]
we should be able to share without that being a concern
#
[morgan]
but alas, this is a partially pretty bad timeline

Loqi
I agree

regarding AI training worries, has anyone heard of anubis? it's a small proxy (might be indieweb-dev territory) that you can run in front of your website. most AI bots cannot get past it

Anubis is documented on https://indieweb.org/large_language_model_traffic - yes, several folks here use it
#
simpleauthority
oh very nice!
#
[artlung]
if you have experience or know of stories not linked to feel free to add to that page, either in-line or the "see also" sections.
#
[artlung]
here's a story on boingboing about the shutdown of Audioblogger from 2006 - https://boingboing.net/2006/10/05/audioblogger-rip.html - yes, audioblogging meant something different in the past. https://artlung.com/blog/2010/02/15/audioblogger-com-posts-recovered/
#
WinnerWind
simpleauthority: probably a bit late but I have heard of anubis
#
WinnerWind
i talked about it in my blog, personally iocaine is a far better soln.
#
WinnerWind
anubis is nice but making javascript compulsory to use your site blocks a lot of users unfortunately
#
[artlung]
https://anubis.techaro.lol/docs/admin/configuration/challenges/metarefresh/ is linked from the llm traffic page and it's a no-js anubis configuration. how effective it is I can't say but it's worth noting.
#
Loqi
friendly reminder WinnerWind, [artlung], that's a lot of dev jargon! JavaScript, LLM... can you move to #indieweb-dev?
#
WinnerWind
im curious, is Loqi a bot or a user?
#
[artlung]
Automated tool. Bot, yes.
#
WinnerWind
ah, okay
#
WinnerWind
it speaks a lot like a user, caught me off guard

Not sure how it happened but I posted a reply from alltogethernow.io to my blog. It was meant to be in response to https://cleverdevil.io/2026/you-know-its-a-good-night-when but somehow wires got crossed and it went to https://tantek.com/2025/300/t18 instead lol.

Regarding audioblogging, I've done a bit of that, mostly recording and posting bird songs. Definitely not what I'd call podcasting. I don't do it very often because of the tediousness of editing audio, exporting it in two formats, and outputting the necessary markup. Cue Loqi to rap me on the knucles. But I'd like to point out that I'm only responding to an earlier comment.

One good use case for audioblogging is on the Forgejo FAQ where they actually pronounce Forgejo for you :D
#
[snarfed]4
"for-HAY-hoe" natch
#
[snarfed]4
properly Forgéjo

Thought it might also have some of the same confusion as pronouncing GIF.
#
btrem
I've always pronounced that with a hard "g" even though it's followed by an "i." Not sure it that's correct or not.
#
gRegor
"every argument for pronouncing GIF is wrong and that's ok" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmqy-Sp0txY (I like the resulting "ZHAIF")
#
gRegor
Added to /GIF since I keep referencing that, haha
#
to2ds
One possible solution is <7th letter of English Alphabet>IF.
#
btrem
Why constrain yourself to English? I'm sure "g" is the 7th letter in more than one alphabet. At least French. <7th letter of English|French Alphabet>IF. :-)
#
to2ds
Much better!
