[Leo]Anyway, I've been tending my own personal blog for a while with nanoc (a Ruby gem that compiles static pages), and tried different self hosting things, like an old android. Heard you all appreciate that kind of stuff.
[morgan][capjamesg] Im still trying to figure out how to present my website professionally. I think The Void for me is a big issue, as I dont really know who would read it, and what value it really would have for their judgments. Basically I decided to keep my long-standing about/ page, but add another `/cv/` page linking from that which has more professional stuff in it. I made a basic print stylesheet for it but havent got it to a point yet
[morgan]Ill be completely honest being employed again has done wonders for my sanity and wellbeing the last few weeks, and I just simply dont care as much as I was thinking about it a while ago. Hoping to remain as engaged and employed for a while

lesleylaiI mostly write whatever what I'm interested in rather than guessing whatever other people want to see. It's hard to anticipate who will be interested in what content, and how many people will be interested in a particular page. I don't (and will not) have analytics.
lesleylaiNo employer or interviewer has ever brought up my website, so I don't consider the "professional" part of it a big deal. On the other hand, I've seen random internet people link to my blog in the wild, so I consider that a success.
[morgan]The main thing Ive found to be a major strength and benefit is having a link to my website in my email footer. I swear, what it does, is it means you can sometimes send short transactional emails and they trust you more after seeing you have a website
[morgan]Like I think it allows for a more personal, direct form of communication, and if they are curious about you they can click the url and see its you, it just seems like it cuts the cruft or suspicion sometimes and allows for good communication
[April]Hello! I hope you all well :) For the Dusseldorf session this Saturday - Sunday. I wanna know if I can join right at the welcome intro time? For Saturday mostly. I am 4 hrs ahead so just wanna squeeze it in my workday schedule well. Given the internet works well I can stay around for pictures and create day too - although I don't know what am gonna create in it. But open to see and learn!
