kenomatik Loqi: Great timing, I am working on a personal bookmarklet for my library page to bookmark interesting links. If you have some time, could you help me understand if there are any workarounds for making bookmarklets (JS) work on sites like YouTube that has a Content Security Policy. This is my current bookmarket - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/karthikeyankc/picks/refs/heads/main/bookmarklet/bookmarklet.js.
#
kenomatik Also, https://bookshop.org/ is blocked in India.
#
kenomatik [edit] Also, https://bookshop.org/ is blocked in ~~India~~ everywhere except US and UK.
#
thamara_k kenomatik[d] I can’t say I’ve explored 7 in depth. I did notice they’ve changed the block editor a bit. I don’t use any of the AI features.
#
thamara_k In any case, not wanting to wrestle with the block editor is one of the reasons I’m migrating as well.

thamara_k timomacquis[d] _savisonline[d] welcome!
#
thamara_k _savisonline[d] I like how you’ve played on the gov.uk website design lol. It’s a website that’s been the cause of so much anxiety for us over the years, yours gave me a good chuckle.

ys1433 Hi indieweb! Im Hyuk Jang from South Korea. My site is hyuk.xyz — a portfolio where all the content (works, notes, links) lives in Are.na and gets baked into a static Astro build. Still very much under construction, but happy to be here!

thamara_k kenomatik[d] got discuss working on my test build. My only feedback so far is, would be nice to have an easy way of styling it. (My fonts, background colours etc)
#
thamara_k Hyuk_Jang[d] cool site!
#
kenomatik thamara_k[d]: Wonderful! Thank you so much for the feedback! I'll find some time and get this done. By background colours you mean the UI colour? If yes, you can change it in the appearance tab.
#
kenomatik We should probably switch to #indieweb-dev , but here's the setting for colours.
#
thamara_k Nothing ever gets past Loqi!
#
thamara_k kenomatik[d] I will follow up on #indieweb-dev
#
ys1433 thamara_k[d]: thank you!

Loqi business models are ways to offer indieweb products and or services that users pay for both for their own benefit, and in support an open indie web https://indieweb.org/business-model
#
Loqi PADD is an IndieWeb-enabled Microsub reader / client built by Aaron Crowder https://indieweb.org/PADD
#
aspizu [tantek]: their website is slop
#
neatnik @aspizu You can earn money by providing a service that people want to pay for. It helps if you're passionate about what you're building and if your priority is the service itself and not the profit.
#
aspizu i want to do both
#
neatnik The IndieWeb grifters always kinda stick out like a sore thumb. Don't become one of those!
#
neatnik Well, what do you want to build? What's missing today that you'd like to see exist? What exists but could be made better?
#
aspizu neatnik: i recently got hired by a open-source company

aspizu i know im being immature and childish but i wanna do the same
#
neatnik @tantek There was one I came across a couple of months ago, but can't recall the name. Some kind of blog submission thing with upvotes. Obvious AI-generated website, clear appeal to "IndieWeb" / "Small Web", but just looked like something someone slapped together to make a quick buck

#
neatnik As for PADD, that looks neat and I hadn't seen it before. Love the subtle nod to Star Trek TNG (I can see them kinda going for an LCARS-like design, love it)

tellroboxer this is my 90's style website
#
[capjamesg] Looks great!
#
tellroboxer it took a while to make
#
tellroboxer I am going to be documenting malware analysis on it
#
tellroboxer [capjamesg]: What are ways I could improve it? I was thinking of adding a CRT effect among other things
#
Loqi It looks like we don't have a page for "90" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "90 is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
Loqi The 1990s was a decade that saw the invention and growth of the web, dominated by independent websites, as well as nascent silos like Geocities, with a particular brightly colored and often translucent design aesthetic that would come to define the era along with under construction graphics, dancing animals, site counters, ornate backgrounds, and guest books https://indieweb.org/90s

goats_are_real 👋 I just stumbled upon this community, and it feels very apropos! I just revived my blog for reasons that feel very similar to the IndieWeb principals. I'm a 30-something dad of two, husband, and software engineer living in Vermont, USA. I'm currently trying to be more intentional with how I use technology, and how it uses me. Here's my recent blog post titled "Your corner of the internet": https://log.fisher.sh/posts/2026/

Loqi A post is content published at a permalink, usually with an explicit published date in contrast to a named page, or the act of publishing that content, typically publicly, sometimes to a limited audience or even privately like a draft https://indieweb.org/post
