[aciccarello]"connecting" makes me think of connecting with other sites/tools (mentions and publishing apps) but connecting/setting up a public website also fits!
keplersecond of all, i may not be speaking for everyone here because im not a big official person, but they're still definitely indie web because you're making your own site
[snarfed]oh, sorry, if the question wasn't "is paying ok" but "are website platforms ok," then...also yes! eg https://micro.blog/ is one very indieweb-friendly host that we like and recommend here, and it's very much one of those

wturrellIRCCloud is pretty nice. Paid obviously, but… what I’m still finding quite confusing on here is when people reply to someone else whose account contains square brackets (because it’s on Discord). Can’t stop myself from thinking the brackets indicate that person is the one talking.
[0x3b0b]I thought square brackets were Slack. And me, because I'm special. Where it's distinguishable to me, Disappointment is IWDiscord talking about people in angle brackets.
valerieflynnI've been meaning to do this with my Dad's website for years. Looks much nicer than the old version. Glad I got it online. Looks much nicer than the old version.
valerieflynnUsed Publii for this project for the first time. Other than a few learning curves, it went pretty smoothly. Figured since my Dad's professional website was the first one I ever made back in the early 2000s, the renovation should be the first website I do in Publii.
