simpleauthorityHi all, by any chance has anyone successfully used micro.blog’s iOS app to post to their micropub endpoint? When I put in my domain, it opens my browser and goes to my auth endpoint as expected, but then redirects back to micro.blog with “something went wrong” and no further info. Maybe something is wrong with my implementation. But, on that note, any iOS app recommendations for posting?

simpleauthorityOk, I see why now. micro.blog is not using PKCE, which is required. So, my options: 1) make my indieauth server lenient or 2) find something else. Guess I'll find something else... :P

[manton]What is requiring PKCE? It’s true we’ve been slow to update http://Micro.blog with PKCE support, because the code predates PKCE… I’ll get this prioritized!
LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "web-siting" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "web-siting is ____", a sentence describing the term)
Loqi📝 create in the context of the indieweb refers to the act of and UI for creating a new post, in its simplest form, a new note, or more broadly creating anything on or for your personal site! https://indieweb.org/making
[social]I did a little web-siting already as I added a new post and included a Flickr photo for the first time in a long time using Flickr’s embed. It took a little fussing to get the right embed option for it to work properly.

[capjamesg]web-siting is anything you do on or with your personal website, for example writing a blog [[post]], creating a new [[page]], writing some [[HTML]] or [[CSS]], doing [[maintenance]], or anything else related to your site.
valerieflynnAh, yeah. I learned that technically a Webmaster is someone proficient in HTML and CSS. I'm not that. Closest I can call myself is a web designer. I've been doing website stuff since the late 90s / 2000s. But I never really did coding.

[social]Today turned into a lot of web-siting. A post. A change to my search for my blog so it now accepts `"many terms"` and even do not include `-mess`. I thought that was it and got an urgent request from my host to update my WordPress for my dad’s memorial site, which took a bit of work as there were many things to update. In letting my host know, they came back with it was still a v5 WP site but in a directory that doesn’t serve the sub-domain
[social]where my dad’s site is served. I found the old (move into new host directory from 2020), zipped it, deleted it, and removed everything pointing to it on the host site.

[snarfed]a lot of it probably just boils down to moderating incoming webmentions like usual. eg you can choose which incoming replies, quotes, reposts etc to accept and show on a given post
[snarfed]they'll still show other quotes/reposts of your posts though, even if you haven't approved them. afaik we don't yet have a webmention/mf2-based way to request a post quoting/reposting you to "detach" it
[snarfed]er, sorry, by "they" above, I meant social readers that consume and redistribute your posts. they'll show the replies, likes, etc that you've approved and are publishing mf2 for
[tantek]silo quote/reply interactions are quite different from IndieWeb. like on IndieWeb, you can't top someone from copy/pasting and including your post a a quote and linking to it
[snarfed]^ meant that for loqi. decentralized social networks like the fediverse and atmosphere (bluesky) are much more like the indieweb. those networks have controls, but it's still possible to violate those controls and reply, quote, etc even if the original post says you shouldn't
[snarfed]clients and apps will generally honor the controls and not show the "illegal" interactions, but they may still be visible on their author's timeline, or in other clients, etc
[tantek]I'd rather only show replies from those mentioned in posts by default, then let me as the original post author opt-in to having other replies show up
[snarfed]but basically, replies/quotes/reposts ask permission from the original author (via AP extensions, UX is usually automated), and then that original author can later revoke permission ("detach") at any time
[snarfed]so yeah some of the equivalent in the indieweb is the usual per-site moderation. but I wonder if there's an opportunity for us to brainstorm a similar kind of "request to detach" mechanism
glitzeor4444Off-topic, but I've updated my website (moved back to WordPress), and I feel like it has so much more personality now even if the layout's pretty basic 😂
[snarfed]^ that kind of "request to detach" mechanism would always be best effort in the indieweb, as it is in the fediverse and atproto, not a guarantee. but if 99% of clients, apps, etc are well behaved, then they'd honor it and detach the quote (etc) for all of their users, even if the quoter themselves is a bad actor and refuses
[tantek]Also what would "detach" really mean in an indieweb context? Like don't show my content in your quote or reply context? Don't even link to me? Something else?
