[snarfed] the main difficulty with the consent side is that they're often based in the fediverse, and hold up the fediverse as consent-oriented, which may be true culturally, but it's *not* how ActivityPub federation itself works. AP federation is generally default-on, not opt-in consent based. you have to go out of your way to block users, or domains, or set up an instance to require opt-in federation
