aaronpk
that sounds like what i'd expect
#
aaronpk
so something is going wrong saving the data
#
aaronpk
is the folder for the database created and can the web server user write to it?
#
tantek
ludovicchabant: there are definitely a bunch of Python folks here
#
[eddie]
yeah, I see /storage/gps and it's writeable by the PHP user
#
[eddie]
I checked the same logs I was checking before but nothing is showing up there. Not sure if there are multiple levels of logs or not
#
aaronpk
if it's an application-level error rather than language error it'll be written to the app's log file
#
aaronpk
in storage/logs/
#
[eddie]
ohhh gotcha
#
aaronpk
you should see some debug stuff in there too
#
[eddie]
hmm mkdir
#
[eddie]
must be a permissions issue ?
#
aaronpk
php might be running as a different user than the web server
#
[eddie]
so for this error are we worried about php or the web server? I'm assuming php?
#
aaronpk
the php process needs to be able to write that file
#
[eddie]
oh oops
#
[eddie]
data storage is in a different location
#
Loqi
giggles
#
aaronpk
hey nice!
#
[eddie]
Thanks so much! I've got random notes in my markdown notes app, so I'll put that together when I get a chance tomorrow ?
#
[eddie]
If I wait too long, I'll forget. ?
#
aaronpk
awesome
#
[eddie]
aaronpk: Hmm, got over half the data in there, and I found a new error. Apparently the jobs table doesn't exist in mysql
#
aaronpk
oh funny
#
aaronpk
ohh because i use redis for the job queue
#
aaronpk
looks like this will set it up:
#
aaronpk
php artisan queue:table
#
aaronpk
php artisan migrate
#
[eddie]
ohhh gotcha
#
[eddie]
Awesome! That did it

aaronpk: sorry for the bridgy instagram trouble!

snarfed: jonnybarnes left you a message 4 days, 5 hours ago: I finally deployed my img srcset code and uploaded a large image: https://jonnybarnes.uk/notes/GE
#

snarfed: aaronpk left you a message 21 hours, 44 minutes ago: i think something is wrong with my instagram bridgy. in the last log https://brid.gy/log?start_time=1506251680&key=aglzfmJyaWQtZ3lyFgsSCUluc3RhZ3JhbSIHYWFyb25waww it says "Demoting original post links because user tag:instagram.com,2013:aaronpk doesn't match author tag:instagram.com,2013:1500881" and it says the last syndication link was found 2 weeks ago.
#
snarfed
i suspect that log line is a red herring; it should still record that it found synd links
#
snarfed
i actually wonder about post velocity again, if you're sometimes hitting more than 10 posts per day across / + /all + /syndicated
#
aaronpk
i thought it was per feed?
#
snarfed
i think total. checking.
#
aaronpk
i am almost certainly above 10 per day across everything
#
snarfed
yeah total
#
snarfed
even then though, the instagram posts would have to be positioned just so to miss them for 2w
#
aaronpk
well hm what can I do about that?
#
snarfed
...unless you're far over 10/d
#
snarfed
good q, not sure, i'll think about it
#
snarfed
temporarily you can plug them into the resend box on https://brid.gy/instagram/aaronpk
#
Loqi
aaronpk
#
snarfed
not a real fix though
#
snarfed
this is also probably exacerbated a bit by instagram's heavy rate limiting...but mostly unrelated, just felt like complaining :P
#
aaronpk
well that post is on twitter too tho i think i posted it to twitter the next day
#
aaronpk
the funny thing is bridgy found all the likes on instagram already, just doesn't know about my version of the post
#
snarfed
yeah that's good evidence for post velocity
#
aaronpk
hm "resend" didn't do anything
#
snarfed
you gave it your original post url?
#
snarfed
hmm ok
#
snarfed
looking at the last four fetches, it definitely looks like it's missing many of your posts: https://snarfed.org/aaronpk_bridgy.txt
#
aaronpk
i do have a lot of posts
#
snarfed
so i can bump up that cap
#
aaronpk
last couple days counts: 13, 13, 25, 22, 25
#
snarfed
and/or we can find an extra rel value or other hint to tell bridgy, just use this one, it has the syndicated posts
#
aaronpk
that would help yeah
#
snarfed
unrelated note, i need to have a talk with iwontsignuphere, she refreshes her user page and plugs IG posts into the resend box dozens, sometimes hundreds of times a day ?
#
snarfed
aaronpk: resend found the syndication links for those posts. i'll look into why it didn't retrigger the replies/likes it had already found.
#
aaronpk
ah cool okay
#
snarfed
let me know what you think the right approach for post velocity is, higher global cap or per user cap or more feed hints or something else, i'm open
#
aaronpk
I think I'd tend towards the feed hint option, since it seems like the least amount of work
#
aaronpk
I already created a separate feed for bridgy anyway, since my home page doesn't include everything that I syndicate
#
snarfed
right! bridgy's currently looking at (ie merging) the posts on / + /all + /syndicated
#
aaronpk
would it be better or worse to make a UI in bridgy where I could select a specific feed
#
snarfed
probably worse? they'd eventually skew
#
aaronpk
if the selected one stopped showing up on the site it could just "forget" it
#
snarfed
i should go back and find what triggered the cap, and what that pattern was, and how this differs, and if i can distinguish them
