sknebel https://chat.indieweb.org/dev/2017-10-30/1509394484800000 - did you find the rel issue in microformat-shiv, or was that commenting on something else?
#
Loqi
[sknebel] found it
eli_oat and [tantek] joined the channel
#
sknebel
Zegnat: rel issue. the code doing the discovery of the base url only runs on pages that have microformats on them, so it doesn't work on generic non-mf pages
#
sknebel
somehow I never realized that Amazon Lightsail instances come with relatively large traffic allowance included, that is weird
#
sknebel
like, the smallest 5$/month one comes with 1 TB traffic, which they'd normally charge you almost 100$ for
#
Zegnat
sknebel, wow, that’s weird! It should just always discover the base URL whenever it loads a DOM.

they are trying to compete with digitalocean there
#
petermolnar
different market, different people
#
sknebel
sure, I still find it interesting they offer it that way (and wonder how many of they are customers are using those to offload high-bandwidth parts)
#
[kevinmarks]
The twitter PWA is not noticeably faster than the native Android one
#
[kevinmarks]
Gah. *now* noticeably

sknebel
oha, AntennaPod doesn't like the last percolator episode
#
sknebel
complains about "https" not being a useful host name when downloading the episode
#
aaronpk
that's odd
#
sknebel
hm, happens now with older episodes as well, it worked a few days ago though...
#
aaronpk
i did just add some http redirects
#
aaronpk
oh the RSS has a relative URL
#
aaronpk
maybe i should make that absolute
#
aaronpk
there try now
#
Zegnat
I have had some hit and miss with downloading Percolator in Pocket Casts too
#
aaronpk
Zegnat: just today or in the past too?
#
Zegnat
I’ve had it in the past. But Ep 8 Back from the Woods downloaded no problem. Not sure when I grabbed it.
#
Zegnat
Wanted to grab Ep 9 today and failed again.
#
Zegnat
The error I get is totally unhelpful though
#
Loqi
xml has -2 karma in this channel (-15 overall)
#
Zegnat
“Download failed.” Yes, thank you Pocket Casts.
#
sknebel
now it works
#
aaronpk
cool must have required an absolute URL
#
sknebel
yes, the w3c feed validator complained about that as well
#
sknebel
oh lol no, that thing is broken
#
sknebel
it still complains because your urls don't start with "http://" and thus CLEARLY can't be proper URLs
#
aaronpk
oh gawd
#
Zegnat
I am not sure how to even retry, because I am not sure when it refreshes the XML in the background
#
sknebel
no manual refetch button?
#
Zegnat
Not that I see. It should refresh on every start, but it doesn’t look like it does.
#
Zegnat
I’ll just resubscribe
#
Zegnat
I also subscribed through whatever internal podcast directory Pocket Casts uses, might be caching involved on that end
#
sknebel
aaronpk: also, feedback: it took me accidentially clicking on a post in the podcatcher to notice that you actually have relevant links attached to your posts. that isn't obvious on the website
#
aaronpk
hm yeah the list view doesn't really indicate the permalinks have more info
#
sknebel
might be nice to have an exlicit "more" or "links" button, and maybe even load it inline if JS is available
#
sknebel
(don't break playing audio)
#
Zegnat
Hmm, subscribed through the XML URL and download still fails :/
#
sknebel
Zegnat: if it uses some backend service that might still cache it
[eddie] joined the channel
#
Zegnat
It seemed to manually be refetching the cover image &c now.
#
Zegnat
All episodes fail download. I’ll try again tomorrow or something
