aaronpk: [eddie] left you a message 23 minutes ago: I have actually added tentative support for checkin display to Indigenous, but I definitely still need to do more improvements when I get the chance

yay!

That’s actually one reason I have a channel that just follows your “all” feed. Because it helps me when seeing how Indigenous handles different post types 😆
#
[eddie]
Haha I don’t read them all. But I peak occasionally to see what it looks like. It’s very helpful
#
Loqi
hehe
#
[eddie]
I’m looking forward to updating Aperture this weekend and setting that channel to “no read state tracking”
#
GWG
[eddie]: Do you have screenshots of Indigenous?
#
aaronpk
haha good
#
aaronpk
lots of aperture updates for you to play with!
#
[eddie]
What is indigenous?
#
Loqi
Indigenous is a native app for iOS currently in beta that supports posting your website using Micropub and a built-in reader that supports microsub https://indieweb.org/Indigenous
#
[eddie]
Ohh I haven’t added the reader there
#
[eddie]
I do have a video linked on there, GWG.
#
GWG
[eddie]: I've never looked because I don't have iOS. Just curious.
#
[eddie]
I’ll try to do some screenshots after the next beta build is pushed
#
[eddie]
Yeah, makes sense. I do have a screenshot section on that page but it could definitely be beefed up
#
[eddie]
aaronpk: awesome! Looking forward to it.

It's a bit of a pain that IFTTT does not seem able to create HTML in a file saved to DropBox. I wonder whether it can do so in an email.
#
jeremycherfas
You can indeed send an email that contains HTML from IFTTT -- but it takes a lot longer to arrive than it does to create a file in DropBox. Not that time is of the essence, but still.
#
Zegnat
What is the usecase jeremycherfas ?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "usecase jeremycherfas" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "usecase jeremycherfas is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
jeremycherfas
Playing around trying to build a page with my highlights from Instapaper more automatically. So I want to add tags and classes to the raw data that IFTTT can fetch from Instapaper.
#
jeremycherfas
The Instapaper API is all about posting to not getting information from.

The IFTTT recipe I have works just fine. All it means is that I then need to do some search and replace on the resulting file.

The other minor annoyance is that the URL that IFTTT provides is a short form created by IFTTT so if I want to store the information locally I need to find a way to retrieve that.

[aaronpk] Not sure if you had a chance to test that IndieAuth "me" fix in Sunlit, but [eddie] reported it worked so we're going to release it in the App Store as soon as it gets through review. Let me know if you have any problems either now or later.

lol yes. much of it in meetings. i multitask during them with day job work, but sometimes also indieweb work :P
#
GWG
My day job doesn't permit me much day time

eh, not embarrassed meaning i want to spend more time on indieweb. embarrassed that python 3 support in granary is so overdue.

#

#
GWG
Nothing like sitting around trying to decide if I care about fractions of a second in a datestamp
#
GWG
Should I?
[kevinmarks] joined the channel
#
[kevinmarks]
Depends if you rely on them being unique anywhere
#
GWG
In some cases, PHP is returning a false, which is rendering as 1969
#
aaronpk
I used microsecond precision (6 digits) in my GPS database because I rely on each record having a unique timestamp
#
GWG
aaronpk, what about on your posts?
#
aaronpk
just seconds there
#
aaronpk
but nothing assumes the timestamps of my posts are unique
#
[cleverdevil]
So, I got pretty far last night building out a JSON Schema for MF2.
#
GWG
I am bringing in a lot of new data and need to make sure that I plan it out
#
aaronpk
not bad
#
[cleverdevil]
It seems to validate many things I throw at it.
#
aaronpk
so here's where this plan starts to get dicey
#
aaronpk
I notice you don't have photo, video or audio in h-entry
#
[cleverdevil]
Yup, I passed those up at this point.
#
aaronpk
because they aren't officially adopted yet,
#
[cleverdevil]
But, it'll still validate in the event that those are passed in.
#
aaronpk
but they are out in the wild, because they won't be adopted *until* they're in the wild
#
[cleverdevil]
Because I've specified that "additional properties" are allowed.
#
aaronpk
can you put limits on the values of the "additional properties"?
#
[cleverdevil]
I don't think so.
#
[cleverdevil]
But, I am not sure.
#
[cleverdevil]
So, keep in mind, though, I am thinking of this as being useful as the validation layer for a Micropub server.
#
aaronpk
so it would allow "photo": {"foo":"bar"} even though that's not valid mf2 json
#
[cleverdevil]
Well, it would for now, yes.
#
aaronpk
that's the problem with using it to try to validate at the micropub server level
#
[cleverdevil]
An alternative would be to define a permissive rule for it.
#
[cleverdevil]
To make it so that it needs to be an array, but not defining the elements inside the array.
#
aaronpk
an alternate approach would be to make the schema lead instead of follow the official spec
#
aaronpk
so you'd just go add photo/video/audio right now since they're currently under consideration
#
[cleverdevil]
I think that's even better.
#
[cleverdevil]
Perhaps even have two versions: a strict and a draft.
#
[cleverdevil]
[aaronpk] are the drafts for photo/video/audio published somewhere?
#
Loqi
[Tantek Çelik] h-entry is a simple, open format for episodic or datestamped content on the web. h-entry is often used with content intended to be syndicated, e.g. blog posts. h-entry is one of several open microformat standards suitable for embedding data in HTML. ...

So, from my read, these are simple properties that are just arrays of URIs to photos, videos, and audio.

Today's PHP oddity, if you use filter_var with FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING it will truncate at "<" even if it's not a tag, like "a < b". strip_tags() understands the context though and leaves it.
