aaronpk do you have a screenshot of what your reacji reply-contexts look like in-stream? I'm thinking of trying to design something minimal because I don't think reacji should take up as much space as a note or normal text comment
#
aaronpk
I didn't do anything special so they aren't very nice looking
#
aaronpk
I agree they'd look better smaller somehow
#
tantek_
(to start with I'm trying to figure out if I can provide a "one-liner" reply-context that just follows the 👍

aaronpk, a few examples of my current line of thinking for reacji reply contexts: https://indieweb.org/reacji#Reply_Context
#
aaronpk
not bad
#
tantek_
perhaps overly simple, figuring overly simple makes it easier to add things bit by bit until it feels "right"
#
tantek_
I'm also hoping a "simple" approach may look at least "ok" in-stream as well
#
aaronpk
i'd have to add special support to Monocle to recognize that something is a reacji and render it differently
#
aaronpk
turns out recognizing whether a string is a single emoji is nontrivial

I'm likely to approximate it with some small number of emoji being trated like a reacji

Ah, and I don't really do any reply context whatsoever on my site right now
#
sebsel
No, I fetch the author name, that counts I guess.
#
Zegnat
I thought you displayed name and author? That's pretty close to what tantek is saying there. And you do it all in a compact 1 line format rather than having a header block that is usually the reply context design
#
sebsel
Right, I treat it like it's something I like (for which I use "[heart icon] Seb likes [postname] by [authorname].") but then with "[emoji] at [postname] by [authorname]".

wow w3c really has a branding problem with the status of their specs
#
aaronpk
"Technically, the status of the new standard remains a ‘recommendation,’ but support by browsers is an important step toward formal ratification." https://9to5google.com/2018/04/10/what-is-webauthn/
#
aaronpk
technically, it's a Candidate Recommendation
#
aaronpk
Recommendation is when it's done
#
Zegnat
Ah, for I second I thought you were quoting petermolnar (I think it was?) who wrote something similar before
#
Zegnat
https://petermolnar.net/re-eli-20180318015703 - he fixed it, but is another “prior art” to the branding being problematic
#
aaronpk
yeah they aren't very good names

Zegnat: I dislike systemd intensely - i don't think its well written, I don't think the tooling is particularly well done

awww. i was really hoping aaronpk handled webmentions with photo properties. 😂
#
sknebel
I thought he did
#
schmarty
https://martymcgui.re/2018/04/14/145815/ only shows up as an "Other mention". Maybe I have the wrong idea about mf2 for photo replies.
#
schmarty
the photo property looks like i'd expect. if aaronpk's site *does* show photo replies, then maybe i'm tripping it up with the multiple in-reply-to values, one the plain URL and one an h-cite.
#
sknebel
or it doesn't like gifs
#
schmarty
could be!
#
sknebel
I know I sent him a picture reply one (and just noticed that I broke the markup on that post at some point it seems...)

oh, so photo replies only work if it is in the e-content?
