Something strange happened to my ability to IRC while I was offline for a week or so. I know longer seem to be able to log into panicbnc. And Mutter on iOS has reached end of life. So, rethinking things.
#
jeremycherfas
Anyone got a solid recommendation for an iOS client for IRC?
#
jeremycherfas
And how hard is it, really, to install my own ZNC?

jgmac1106
oops wrong channel, I moved to a matrix app for a phone
#
jgmac1106
I never found an IRC client I liked (Android) and Verizon block the ports for IRC
#
jeremycherfas
So far have not tried to get to grips with matrix. Maybe I should do that.
#
jeremycherfas
I don't want or need the extras and prefer to keep things simple. But I'll look.
#
sknebel
jeremycherfas: I think aaronpk uses limechat
#
sknebel
or actually, maybe he used limechat, and now switched to something web-based, I think he mentioned it being a PWA at some point...
#
jeremycherfas
Cool. Any thoughts on ZNC?
#
sknebel
not much practical experience. once I found quassel I stuck to that :D
#
jeremycherfas
OK. Thanks.
#
jeremycherfas
I like Textual on OSX but would also willingly switch if it would simplify matters.
#
jeremycherfas
sknebel I'm not clear whether I install quassel locally on my Mac or on a server.
#
sknebel
it has a all-in-one mode, but it's designed for the case that you install the "quassel core" on a server, and then connect to it with clients
#
jeremycherfas
OK. So the mono mode is effectively local.
#
sknebel
if you want to try it (although the iOS client seems like it hasn't been developed in a while, and only recently restarted) you can have a test account on my core
#
jeremycherfas
That's kind, but let me look some more. Thanks.

I want to fix this: https://getkirby.com/docs/cookbook/integrations/indieauth based on this https://indieweb.org/IndieAuth as its kind of out date, if I give it a shot anyone up for a review?
#
jeremycherfas
Managed to install ZNC locally, but don't want this machine never to sleep, so thinking of other options.

jeremycherfas: Pi?
#
jeremycherfas
You mean I should get a Raspberry Pi and set that up? Way beyond my pay grade.
#
GWG
jeremycherfas: Just a suggestion.
#
jeremycherfas
But an interesting project.

↩️ https://github.com/jcgregorio/webmention-run is my solution for the incoming webmention support, which I use on my static blog. Runs on Google Cloud Run.

↩️ "I don't see how a #DoOO doesn't fit self-sovereign ID." I absolutely agree, but I'm not positive that these two efforts from different tech areas have been talking yet. I think there could be lots of commonality. For instance, I do think #indieauth and #ssi align.

[aaronpk] I have webmention.io links in the site header, but my webmention tests at
#
[slack_indiewebc
webmention.rocks are not being displayed.
#
[slack_indiewebc
Could you take a look and tell me what I am missing? Here is my test page.
#
aaronpk
which way are you trying to set up?
#
aaronpk
if you're trying to receive webmentions, then you need to include the webmention endpoint in the header, and use the webmention.rocks tests that send webmentions to your site
#
aaronpk
but if you're trying to send webmentions, you don't need to worry about the link tags and instead you need to follow the instructions for discovering the link tags on webmention.rocks and sending the webmentions there
#
[slack_indiewebc
[aaronpk] which type does webmention.io help with, sending or receiving?
#
aaronpk
receiving
#
[slack_indiewebc
Okay. Which tool or instructions do I need when I am sending?
#
aaronpk
is your website wordpress, or are you building it from scratch?
#
[slack_indiewebc
Not WordPress. It’s hosted on Blot. blot.im.

↩️ I’ll finally be along again next week! Holiday and London work days have conspired to keep me away. I’ve been doing exciting little things to automate post publication and also webmention tricks to show off.
