#[jacky]random note for those who grok algorithms really well; does anyone have a concept of a light recommendation algorithm that could be 'serialized' into human-friendly parlance? My hope/idea is to help provide a way to surface posts to people using what people _already_ have engaged with in the past and making it clear why
#[jacky]My bigger hope is if there's a way to derive it into a list of people that I can point to that 'influence' what I would see on such a feed and it's not confusing as to why or how (perhaps even like what posts were used to determine a decision)

#[jacky]Like I don't think discovery like this would be bad per se - or in original - but if it was made clear (like ingredients on packaged meals), I think it'd give people more of a choice to be like "wow, I don't want to see this content or this person" and how it gets there to begin with

#[tantek]totally agreed with the principle of surfacing why something was recommended, and empowering the person to adjust things accordingly
#[tantek]that kind of transparency would also help communicate what is likely to happen if you click a "less like this" or "more like this" link in response
#[jacky]yes! that's a good point! could even draw a path for someone over time tying the story of their content together
#[tantek]oh yeah! in case they wanted to rewind or revisit such a decision or wanted to how did my recommendations get into this "state"?

#[tantek][KevinMarks] re: animation timing function — maybe? Though really the key unintended insight was that no new properties were necessary, that existing properties could be made dynamic (animated)

#[tantek]or rather: no new properties specific to existing properties. that animation could be described generically, except for the need to specify which properties were able to (made sense to) be animated

#[tantek]Has anyone tried or is actively running the Amberlink plugins for Wordpress or Drupal? First I heard of it was Zittrain’s recent Atlantic article (see /longevity)https://amberlink.org/
#[tantek]It’s amber as in preserve copies of the stuff you link to in amber the substance
#LoqiAn archival copy is a copy of a web page made (often by someone other than the author) at a particular point in time, that can be used as a reference if the original disappears or is temporarily unavailable https://indieweb.org/archive_copy
#[tantek]archival copy << https://amberlink.org/ - plug-ins for Wordpress and Drupal to automatically locally archive copies of what you link to
#[Murray]Cool, will definitely be interested in taking this for a spin
#rockoragerI'll let you know when it's a bit more polished :)
