#capjamesg[d]I am getting a "Couldn't look up your hostname" on an IRC bot I am running.
#capjamesg[d]It's my first time running it on a server, not my local machine.
#capjamesg[d]This happens before the MOTD is shown, etc.
#[snarfed]capjamesg iirc IRC does reverse DNS lookup? if your server's IP doesn't have a DNS record for it, that might be it. but I'm guessing this isn't fatal, just a warning?
#capjamesg[d]I then get this "SASL authentication to a NickServ account with a verified email address is required to connect from your current network"
#aaronpki do it by channel rather than by post type. so i can authorize a client to post only to like `/reviews` and the posts will not show up on my home page
#[jacky]I feel like if I had to draw one for the IndieWeb, it'd have HTTP still at networking, Data with an asterisk, Identity loosely tied to IndieAuth (but tbh, that might be another asterisk b/c it's not specific if that means authn/authz or _how_ to represent someone - we do that via hcard but it doesn't have to be, it falls back to just your URL) and then user facing being whatever your site or service is
#[jacky]I can see why _that_ would be hard to grasp but it's more about "what do _you want_ to see + use" versus "what do _I have to_ use" to get in the space

#[KevinMarks]I should make the Wardley maps for these
#[tantek]jacky, that table/chart is open in a tab from back when they first published that bluesky PDF report thing
#[tantek]it's such a weird "stack" diagram in that the labels / positions don't even necessarily make sense as a way to slice it, and it's very plumbing-centric
#[snarfed]oh I shoould mention that Jay (Bluesky lead) finally got back to me
#[snarfed]"Thank you for submitting this solution to the Satellite contest! There were a lot of responses, and I'll be taking the time to evaluate every one. I haven't updated the leaderboard yet since I haven't had the chance to read them all as they come in, but Friday was the final submission deadline, so I'll be wrapping up assessments soon."
