barnaby but even in this case, with value keys a simpler client could see that there are these weight and bodyfat properties which it doesn’t understand, but which have value keys (which could be, say "70.64kg", and could offer the user the oppotunity to edit them as plain strings, with a warning that data might get lost. and then the server, on receiving the data, could either ignore it as it’s not the expected nested structure, or
