I saw that https://webmention.io is refusing to load and says it's getting too many requests for the last several hours. Does anyone know if there's something unusual going on there?
#
reillypascal
Ope, it just came back on, nevermind!
#
aaronpk
Oh since you're only on the web client you can't see anything I'm saying 😂
#
[tantek]
there's going to be a few hours of confusing logs 😂

What is downtime?
#

🚧 downtime is the time period or duration while a site, whether indieweb, commons, or silo, is offline and unreachable https://indieweb.org/downtime

#
[Joe_Crawford]
Anything we can do aaronpk?

What is UX first
#
Loqi
User experience, often abbreviated as UX, refers to the total experience a user has with a tool, or even an entire company, across all methods of communication and interaction with that tool, including both direct interactions using a tool UI and indirect interactions via other tools such as email, SMS, phone calls, in-person human representatives of the tool or company, etc https://indieweb.org/UX-first

ok, I added "1997 customer experience first, technology second: https://www.ddinstagram.com/reel/C7QEgDmvE-W/" to the "See Also" section of /user-experience https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=95408&oldid=92069

"Don't be surprised if smaller platforms, including those with or adding support for ActivityPub like micro.blog and Ghost, start adding AT protocol support over the next few years the same way Mastodon started with OStatus, then supported both OStatus and ActivityPub, then switched entirely to ActivityPub."

[snarfed] How do I convert a JSON feed to RSS with the granary Python package?
#
capjamesg
[tantek] That's a great video!
#
capjamesg
[snarfed] Atom conversion worked.

[snarfed] getting this error when I try to follow people using bridgy:
#
cophee
Not sure if it's a bug or if I'm using microformats wrong on my site
#
cophee
I have it tagged as u-url in my h-card on my home page

Also have some instructions for adding redirects for Cloudflare Pages using Redirect Rules (took some time to figure it out):
#
cophee
1. Click on the domain from the Home page (i.e. wingpang.com)
#
cophee
2. On the left sidebar, go to Rules > Redirect Rules
#
cophee
3. Create two rules (with any name) using the following config
#
cophee
(Make sure that 1. operator is set to contains and value doesn't use the wildcard and 2. "Preserve query string" is enabled)

capjamesg hmm! sorry, will look
#
[snarfed]
granary docs are at https://granary.readthedocs.io/ . they're missing examples for format conversion, I should add some. in general, you convert from the source format to AS1, and then from AS1 to the destination format
#
[snarfed]
eg for JSON Feed => RSS, you'd do `rss.from_activities(jsonfeed.jsonfeed_to_activities(feed))`
#
[snarfed]
(https://github.com/snarfed/granary/issues/482 is another easy todo that would make this a bit easier)
#
[snarfed]
cophee hmm! where specifically are you seeing that error?
#
[snarfed]
capjamesg I see the bug. thanks for reporting! will fix. granary's jsonfeed support is (probably) underutilized, glad you're putting it through its paces

[preview] [mfosterio] Great work! Sam and I walked through configuring SSO and FedCM together and it it was a success. On to the next step! Be sure you have a domain pointed to static environment http webserver that you can add a ./well-know folder to with web-identity...

#
[snarfed]
mostly wifi afaik
#

so Apple collects wifi networks and correlates them with GPS data?
#
aaronpk
i was gonna say there was just an article about this
#
[snarfed]
many people/co's do, not sure whose data Apple is using, but yes
#
aaronpk
but yeah this is not new, google has been doing this for ages too

i contributed a bunch of data to this open source version for a while https://www.wired.com/2010/03/where-20-geomena-launches-api-to-feed-its-open-location-database/
#
pcarrier
added geolocation to https://www.ident.me/ and it's creepy how precise the location is
#
pcarrier
it knows where I am in the building…

(also incredible how good openstreetmap is, but I digress)
#
[Joe_Crawford]
I don't have any WiFi networks close enough to my apartment with the `_nomap` suffix which supposedly robots.txt's you out of their data. But there is an SSID name that's named "What's the WiFi" which is a great name.
