What it an h-feed validator
#
[tantek]
What is an h-feed validator
#
Loqi
Closest thing we currently have to an h-feed validator is the Preview tool in Monocle, which will accept the URL of your h-feed, parse it, and the display a minimally styled visual feed of what it found, which you can use to verify your feed name, and the entries in your feed with author information, article names if any, HTML or plain text content, and date-times published linked to entry permalinks https://indieweb.org/h-feed_validator
#
[tantek]
[schmarty] ^ feel free to copy edit or improve in any way, wanted to get something up there at least to refer to for new folks coming in an asking to validate h-feed

Issued an update to the IndieAuth plugin for WordPress. No more errors when the client_id has been updated to return JSON.

Will have to figure out what's next, but that was hindering things

How do we start removing backward compatible elements from implementations?

GWG
It's been over 2 years since we added the metadata endpoint

Darn, I thought I fixed that

GWG
It seems like if it is above a certain length it is messing up the output

aaronpk: You can still comment on my question if you want
#
aaronpk
well for starters i need to update all the apps i run myself 🙈
#
GWG
I meant the blue sky post.. but IndieAuth too
#
GWG
aaronpk: I'm thinking of putting warnings into my plugin that tells people I'm in compatibility mode.
#
GWG
Not sure what it should say though that educates but doesn't scare

Scary warnings are the best! 😄️
#
GWG
to2ds: But not always effective.
#
to2ds
GWG: Think I'd prefer scary ones over those that are just numeric codes that require scouring the Internet to decipher.
#
GWG
to2ds: I was talking about text, not numeric
#
to2ds
GWG: I was just throwing that one out there.

Always wondered why some apps just used numeric codes for warnings and errors. Maybe it saves some translation effort?

If I were to use comment parage for anonymous replies to posts, would they still be able to be permalinked? Would the permalinks have to just be to pages on my own site? Feels weird to be the canonical url for other people's comments, but I guess I have to be for anonymous comments

[tantek]
thepaperpilot, there's the well established practice of local comments which also create hosted canonical URLs for other people's comments. I get that it still "feels weird" (and would tend to agree)

capjamesg[d]++ for implementing something which intelligently adds curly quotes!
#
Loqi
capjamesg[d] has 44 karma in this channel over the last year (212 in all channels)
#
[tantek]
what are curly quotes
#
Loqi
curly quotes are pairs of quote marks that are shaped with curves to indicate the start and end of a quotation, like “ ” and ‘ ’ , and should be used in prose content and posts https://indieweb.org/curly_quotes
#
capjamesg[d]
[tantek] I have three regex rules that: replace paired "" with smart quotes, replace paired '' with smart quotes, then replace a singular ' with a closing smart quote.
#
capjamesg[d]
That is for titles.

As for body text, the markdown parser I use already had support!
