# capjamesg[d] paotsaq I am unsure if I will publish it right now.
# capjamesg[d] I don't have a complete idea in mind of exactly what I want to present.
# capjamesg[d] The word ratios are good in theory but the numbers are less human friendly.
# capjamesg[d] (I was inspired by Google Books ngrams using % of corpora, but their number is similarly incomprehensible.)
# capjamesg[d] My initial idea was to show ratios because trends would be more interesting, but showing word counts doesn't limit other ways to show trends.
# capjamesg[d] The process is as follows: (i) count all words in 2024 and 2023 articles, in two separate counts; (ii) count all words by date ("coffee" appears N times on YYYY-MM-DD), for use in the trend lines; (iii) fill in any gaps so that all trend lines show the last 365 days, with 0 set as the word count for each day if the word wasn't used on that day; (iv) create a HTML page with a table to present the data.
# capjamesg[d] I am curious about how to do a year in review that's in the style of Spotify Wrapped.
# capjamesg[d] Since I do a lot of writing, I thought there could be some fun stats to highlight!
# capjamesg[d] I like the information density of the table.
# capjamesg[d] There is so much that can be learned from the sparklines.
# capjamesg[d] (i.e. "search" picks up in the second half of the year, when I start building more search projects again.)
# capjamesg[d] A good second step to the analyses above would be to show sentences that use a word as an example, but now I'd be getting in the realm of building a full exploration tool 😂
# capjamesg[d] I add 0 for all days, so each trend line shows the days from January 1st, 2024 to today.
# capjamesg[d] This ensures that trends can be compared from graph to graph.
# capjamesg[d] Yeah!
# capjamesg[d] It was certainly fun to make.

# [mattl] https://libre.fm/user/mattl is starting to look better IMO.

# [aciccarello] They really are a game changer for CSS
# [aciccarello] That and nested styles have made CSS a lot easier to write by hand without needing SASS or similar.
